I was surprised that the air tag beeps repeatedly when jostled, so that could be a tip off to thieves. Still for the run of the mill lost baggage concern, it did its job very well.

My wife and I use these for the standard things like keys, remotes, wallets, and luggage but they are also useful in other specific scenarios. My wife works a job that can be considered quite a bit more perilous than the standard desk job so she has a small necklace that she can wear when going into these situations. If she is separated from her phone, she would still be able to be tracked safely and appropriately. I understand these have been in the media as a device to instill fear of tracking, but they are also highly useful for people who may need to be tracked in precarious situations.
