I asked a few friends about getting airtags and they use them for their luggage. I got one, saw how it worked when I went on a trip and then got 4 more for my other bags!

Put them in random items throughout the shipment and you’ll know exactly where they are at intervals. Does require proximity to a cell device to work but that’s a small issue.
