I can say I was expecting better from apple. The range is poor and If the item you have it on is moving at all it can’t point out its direction, even if you are in range. If it’s dark out it requires you to turn on the flashlight to point what direction it’s in even standing 7 feet away What’s up with that? I was thinking of using it as a pet tracker (I know Apple doesn’t market it for that) it might be better than absolutely nothing but just barely. I wanted to test it before putting it on my cat, so my wife had it in her hand as I was following her through the woods to see what would happen. I was only 15 feet behind her and it couldn’t show me anything because the airtag was moving. As long as it’s not moving and you aimlessly walk around until you get a signal it would work, hills hugely affect how close you have to be to pick up a signal. On flat ground I got it to point a direction at 100 feet away. The extended find my network with other Apple users is worthless if you live in the country because there just aren’t going to be many people coming in range of it if it can only read a max of 100 feet on flat ground, not to mention if there are any hills between them and the airtag or if they are traveling at 60 mph in the car. I doubt that split second it might be in range would be enough time to give any location info on the find my map. I’m debating if I will return it or not. I might throw it on some keys or a wallet just because, but honestly I’ve never lost my keys or wallet. I really wanted it to work for the cat but I don’t think I’m gonna put much faith in it for that. It could maybe work for pet tracking in an urban area where the chances are good of lots of people being in range of it, so the extended find my network could help. But in the country I wouldn’t bet on it being good for pet tracking period since it’s going to be all on you walking around hoping to get a signal. For dogs it would be completely worthless since dogs don’t tend to sit still very long, and they can travel along ways from home in a short time so where do you even start? A cat it might still work since they usually don’t go far from home (usually less than a 200 yard radius) and will sit still more So walking around your home until you get a signal on a cat could work But I’m not gonna test it on mine.

Works great. Have one for the keys, wallet, and the dog.

This is a great product and I would recommend the Apple Air tag.

It works well! I appreciate how simple and straightforward it is. I wish the device was capable of still working from a farther distance though.
