It syncs up to your other products and becomes an addition to your Find My iPhone feature. I have it stored in my car and have not had problems. Disclaimer: I have an iphone and iPad, so it’s easy to support this product.

AirTag for all purposes

Lost but Found

Replacing those is extremely expensive and the AirTag has allowed me to not lose them any longer.
