Either Apple or Best Buy or both did not do a quality assurance check before sending them out. I was expecting a denting or scratched-up case or even a missing silicone ear cups, all of these would have been acceptable for a refurbished pair of earbuds. What was not acceptable was the fact they were never disconnected from the previous owner's Apple ID. According to Apple the only person that can take a device off of someone's Apple ID is that person. So in my case, I received a pair of AirPods that were connected to someone else's ID. I reset them thinking it would be fine, but after 2 weeks I continued to have connection problems and they kept reverting back to the previous owner's name. I reached out to Apple and Best Buy. This is where I finally learned I was sold AirPods that were useless to me and that the previous person knows everywhere I have been in the last 2 weeks. That is a huge issue. Best Buy online told me to go to the geek squad and they would help me. After 2 trips they determined there was nothing to be done and I would need to get a refund or exchange. After some back and forth, my local store made it right and exchanged the faulty, privicy issue ones for a pair of new ones. I do not know if this is a common problem, where AirPods are not checked for previous owners' Apple IDs but it is a simple check and it is inexcusable that they were sold this way. So purchase refurbished Airpods or any Apple device with caution, they might still be linked to a previous owner and it's a lenghty process to get it resolved.

My refurbished pods are like new, the only negative is when they were returned that person didn’t remove them from their iCloud acct so you’re not going to be able to track them on your own iCloud acct. Best Buy/ Geek Squad need a remedy for that please. Other than the iCloud/FindMy setting the AirPods performance/sound are thumbs up
