The camera connection kit is actually two accessories: A USB Host adapter and an SD Card adapter. They come together and can't be bought separately. For $30 I feel it's a tad bit on the expensive site or transferring pictures, but there isn't much of a choice if you want to transfer picture to the iPad or iPhone. Something that isn't widely known is that the USB adapter is also a USB host adapter, allowing it to work with a variety of other USB devices. This alone makes it worth it for me. Using the adapters for pictures: Plugging in the SD adapter or the USB adapter connected to a camera (or phone) will bring up the photo import tool in iOS. This will allow you to transfer JPEGs and RAW files to your iPad for you to view, edit, and upload. They will be put in a new album named after the date. It's worth noting that while the iPad will download RAW files, it cannot read them. What you will see is the low-res preview image taken by your camera, or the JPEG version if you shoot both RAW and JPEG. Once imported you can open the images with any other app, as you normally would with any other image file. Using the USB adapter for something other than importing photos: The USB adapter surprisingly adds USB host capability to the iPad or iPhone (I haven't confirmed with the Tocuh, but I guess it probably would work). This means you can add other accessories like keyboards or microphones, some of which can be recognized by iOS and be used. I found it's quite common for iOS to complain about the accessory with a warning when connecting things like USB keyboards, usually about power, but they still work. I've heard of some microphones working as well. Some usb drives should be able to connect, although their uses would be limited other than to download pictures. The biggest consideration with using the USB adapter for things other than downloading photos is that the port is very low powered any many USB devices will not get the power they need if they are particularly complex and rely on the USB bus alone to get power. Because of this, some microphones, keyboards, and other accessories will simply not work. It's hard to say what will and what will not without just testing it or doing a Google search. The only other drawback I see is I wished that these adapters had another dock connector port on them, so when using the adapters you could still plug it in to charge or use multiple accessories. The absence of this is common in most iOS accessories though. In conclusion, while I wish this accessory was cheaper or they could be bought separately, it does what you would expect it to do and the USB adapter can potentially have some extra uses beyond what it is advertised for if you're lucky to find a USB device that works with it.

I purchased this product in Lady Lake, Fl. Despite the salesman assuring me this was the correct product for my camera/iPad, it was not! By then, it was too late to return it.
