The texture on this years model does feel softer, actually kind of nice. It's MagSafe - which I have a love/hate relationship - can be nice for some. However unlike previous model silicone cases, the quality and the look of this case wears down much faster in my experience. Dull spots appear, cleaning it will do nothing. Only pro that I have always liked about the silicone case, this will not slip out of your hand...a huge benefit! But like all silicone cases, this is a dirt, lint catcher. As usual for any Apple cases, it's expensive. This years model was bumped up $10. I especially compare this with a Note 9 Samsung case, even my 2016 iPhone 6 Plus case that I have had for almost 3 years, 6 Plus which sits in a box - 5 years. These cases still look far better today than this 12 iPhone case I picked up 7 months ago.
