    Easy Transition

I’m an Apple person so this phone was an upgrade. The transition to this phone was relatively simple with many similar functions but many streamlined steps or functions. The Face ID was as easy adjustment for unlocking the phone or to login on websites. The data transfer process was relatively straightforward because of updating my earlier phone to the iCloud. The size is a little larger which is more of a positive than negative give. It fits in my jean pockets and my purse with ease. Because it is larger it is easier to do research or operate other apps. The camera really is great with clear, beautiful shots easily managed no matter the light. I’m very happy with my new iPhone XR.

I got a 149 dollar credit off the price of this phone. So basically i got this brand new phone for the price of a refurb 600 dollars. At 749 dollars it was still a descent value but at 600 dollars it's a steal. I love this phone even more than i thought i would. The battery life has been great and that is without using any type of power save mode. One of the best purchases i ever made.

I think i’d Have been better off with the 8+; but it was more expensive at the time. I’m a painter and use the camera a lot for my files. The phone aspect is very disappointing, hardly an improvement over my 6+. It is very slow and sticky. I would not buy it again.

Great Phone at a "Reasonable" Price

To begin, what is or is not "reasonable" to pay for a smartphone is a matter of debate and personal preference given that high-end versions of Android and Apple phones are up over $1,000 now (which is crazy). With that being said, Apple's next phone "up" from this is the XS and the additional features you get with that phone for the premium you pay over and above the XR is probably not worth it. Aside from a single camera lens (versus the two with a 2x optical zoom on the XR) and a little bit better water/dust resistance, there are not any huge differences to warrant paying the premium, in my opinion. Sure, the XS has better technology in the screen and the dual lens system, but this phone (the XR) has an awesome screen that looks great, the camera is sensational (for a smartphone), and the additional screen real estate given the removal of the home button and the bezel-to-bezel screen is awesome. The phone is actually just a hair smaller than the 7+ we replaced and the screen is significantly larger. The phone is fast, face ID works well, and we are overall very pleased with this phone. If you love your Apple devices (or, more specifically, mobile devices that run iOS), prefer a large screen with newer technology, but do not want to pay a premium price, this is probably the best phone for you. You also have a choice of colors, which is pretty cool!

We bought this for our daughter who is beyond the moon happy with the replacement for her iPhone SE. The jump in quality from the SE to the XR is tremendous -- the screen in particular is quite spectacular, and the camera is quite good. It's quite a bit bigger than the old one, which is part of the reason the screen is so much better, but the extra real estate is worth it. Speed is excellent. I have been impressed with the battery life as well. The only negative is the cost, but it's Apple so that's to be expected.

I walked into Best Buy with the intention of upgrading from a 6s Plus to the 8 Plus. So glad I went with this phone! It didn’t cost much more than the 8 Plus and has so many features, which I am still learning. I didn’t realize they came out the same day as I went into the store which was just several days ago. This phone is just more affordable than the XS or XS Max. It’s different with no home button and swiping up to get my apps and such, but really it didn’t take me long to get used to it. I just love the Face ID as well. I did use the Passcode at times on the 6s Plus, but it wasn’t always convenient to do that. Now I just look at my phone, and I can keep Face ID on all the time. Love the color blue as well, and have it in a clear case to show it off. The battery lasts longer that my old phone too, which is a big plus. I haven’t gotten into the portraits mode of the photos as yet. There is just so much to learn!

Nice alternative to the more expensive iPhones

This is a great phone for those who like iPhones, or it's a great choice if you are thinking of switching from Android. Personally I don't need or want more storage space on a phone. I upload my pictures to google photos often so I don't need them stored on my device. This iPhone has pretty much all the same features and functions of the more expensive Xs and Xs Max with a cost savings of $250 minimum. I have had several iPhones but my phone for the past year was a Samsung Galaxy S8. Going from an OLED to an LCD I honestly don't notice a difference on a screen this small, although the screen is quite large for a phone! Also you don't really need the 2nd rear camera since you can still do portrait mode without it and who really takes telephoto pictures with a phone? So far I am extremely happy with this phone and it was super easy to pick up the new gestures since it doesn't have a home button. Also I was skeptical about face ID but so far it has worked really well and hasn't been an issue really.

    Impressed

Let me set the stage: I had an iPhone 8, and I wanted a larger phone. I also wanted more current technology (versus an 8+). I didn't want to spend the extra cash for an XS or XSMax, so I decided to get the XR (this phone). First thing: Don't get the 64GB version (lowest memory version) if you tend to take a lot of photos, or download music/movies to the phone. Second thing: I'm coming from the 8 (with 3D touch). This phone does NOT have 3D touch. I haven't missed it much; the only time I miss it is "in place" replies for messages, or for approving 2FA through my company's app. Otherwise, I don't miss it at all. I've read reviews that the display is disappointing - this is NOT the case in my situation. If you're coming from an OLED-based phone (iPhone X) then you might see the difference; coming from my iPhone 8. I love the screen. The phone is speedy, and the battery life is excellent (mostly LTE connections during the day; at night, Verizon service at my house is awful and the phone runs over WiFi calling... now, this has no bearing on the phone itself, but this is the basis of my battery life comments.) My advice: go into the store and feel the phone. Try it out. See if it fits your hand... and if you're planning on getting a case for the phone, have the Best Buy associate put the case on the test phone to see if you like it. They (State College, PA) were extremely helpful with picking a case and this phone, and making sure it was the right fit for me.

I went in to upgrade from 6s Plus to 8 Plus, as that was all I could afford at the time. I had been in several times mulling around ideas of what to buy. My 6s Plus was not handling the bigger iOS updates very well, and was on its last leg, and I had just gotten the new Apple Watch 4. When I saw the special they were running on the XR, it was cheaper than the 8 Plus was, so I jumped on it. I can’t say enough good things about this phone. No more wasted phone area, screen covers entire phone. No more home button, which only took about a day to get used to. I LOVE the face recognition. It is lightning fast, and more than ample space and memory. The camera is only a single camera, but it takes amazing photos. The focus is beautiful. I’ve heard them talk about the display not being fancy like the other 10s, but since I upgraded from a 6, I noticed no difference. Highly recommend this phone,

    XR vs. Pixel 3 side-by-side

I purchased an iPhone XR and a Pixel 3 at the same time. My wife got the XR and I got the Pixel because I was a die-hard Android fan. After a week and a half my Pixel failed and I exchanged it for a second iPhone XR because I was so impressed with her iPhone XR. User Interface: I was immediately impressed with the user interface on the iPhone and by the fact that all screens were well laid out and easy to read. Much of the user interface is the same (XR vs. Pixel), but everything seems to work faster and smoother with the XR. More importantly, each feature on the iPhone seemed to have an unexpected wow factor. These Apple features are encountered when sending text messages, sharing photos, or sharing location with other iPhone users. Air drop is very cool. The built-in face-time video chat is another one of these Apple-only features. Camera: Both cameras seem to be very comparable. The two phones have slightly different feature sets when it comes to the cameras, but the bottom line is that both phones have very good cellphone cameras. Battery Life: No comparison here! The XR is amazing! I often finish the day with 80% of the battery remaining. I was usually down to 30% on the Pixel 3 and sometimes I couldn't make it through the day. This was especially true when using GPS functions. The GPS in the Pixel 3 kills the battery very fast and heats up the phone. I had the same problem with a Samsung S7 and and older S5. In contrast, I can run the GPS all day on the XR and it seems to have minimal impact on the battery. I use the GPS in the car and I use it when I am skiing. I could only run the Ski Tracks app for two hours on the Pixel 3, but I can run it all day on the XR. Screen Unlock: I love the face recognition feature. This is fast and automatic when you pick up the iPhone XR. Pick it up and the screen turns on and unlocks automatically. No buttons and no fingerprint scanners. Siri: I am discovering that Siri is much more useful than the Google assistant. The reason for this is that Siri is able to control virtually any phone function whereas the Google assistant has very little ability to control phone functions. Android vs. iOS: I was a long-time Android user and I thought I would never like using an Apple phone. Now, I am so impressed with the iPhone that I will never go back to an Android phone!

I am a LONG time apple user, long, long before Apple blew up. I never had any problems with my old 6s, but was feeling antsy so I decided to upgrade my old iPhone 6s to an iPhone XR. After days and days of research and reading between the XS and XR, I decided on the XR. At first it was very odd not having a home button, but I got used to it fast. My husband got the 64GB and I the 128GB. The color options are nice, I chose the light blue. The screen size is great at 6.1" and the battery life is AWESOME. I cannot express this enough, I am still in disbelief at how great the battery life is. If the battery was the only upgrade from a 6s to an XR, I would purchase the upgrade on the battery life alone. It is simply amazing. The liquid retina display is crisp and clean. The face ID is impeccable and I am not sure how I managed without it. The features I love the most: • Battery life • Face ID • Water/Splash resistant • Fast loading apps • Large display There is not anything I do not love about this phone. If you are debating on whether or not to upgrade, or if you're not sure which model to purchase - hesitate no longer...this is the one!

I just upgraded from 6s and love it. highlights: - great battery life - nice screen - very responsive and fast - camera is incredible cons: - thicker than 6s - need to buy separate charger and cable for fast charging - had to pay for 128gb (should be the base amount) i'm getting used to no home button, but like the user interface. over all its quite an upgrade from the 6s.

    Upgraded from 7+ Good Move

I had a 7+ and upgraded to the XR. So far so good. I’ve had it a week and battery life is great, screen size is great. It took about 2 days to get completely used to no longer having a home button, but now it’s no big deal. I really like swiping left/right at the bottom of the screen for recently used apps instead of double tapping the home button on my 7+. Also, and this is a big plus for me, this phone has a bigger screen but feels much smaller in my pocket. I have a case on it and it feels like my 7+ did in my pocket without a case. I sometimes go looking for my XR because I can’t tell it’s actually in my pocket. That’s a nice upgrade. Also, the camera on this phone is amazing. I was worried going from the dual camera on the 7+ to a single camera but I have no regrets. I’m not a professional photographer by any means but I can spot a good picture and I have to say the camera on the XR is really good. Low light is no problem, colors are still very bright.

Phones are crazy costly - sure they are indispensable and we let these gizmos have the most impact on our life of any inanimate object we purchase - but $1000.00 and up for a smart phone? Ouch. The iPhone XR is the best value of the entire iPhoneX lineup. Why? Well. It’s fast - the chip set up is every bit as capable as anything out there. Sure not AMOLED screen but it’s still gorgeous and colors are sharp. The 128gig hits the sweet spot - after all 256gig is a bit of overkill. Colors are fun and gives some extra personalization and starting at $799 WITH THE POSSIBILITY to save $10O, $150 or more makes this a terrific buy. Finally there’s the Apple quality. Tops. Sure I wish Apple didn’t restrict so much (ah - that’s the allure of android) but flip side updates are handled well and the experience is always what you expect. Great product and one you will enjoy.

I upgraded to the IPhone XR from an IPhone 5, it was a much needed upgrade. I did a fair amount of research on various phones, both Android and IPhone in order to decide which would be the best phone for me. I decided to purchase the IPhone XR, and I have been extremely happy with it. The camera quality is fantastic, all of the modes are great, and portrait mode is phenomenal. I am particularly happy with the quality of photos taken at night. The screen size is perfect. The color of the phone is beautiful and modern. And, best of all, the battery life is insane. Although it takes a fair amount of time to charge, the battery will last for several days even with fair amount of use each day. If you are considering upgrading, I would highly recommend this phone.
