My husband also could not update it to use with checking in to our airlines on travel so it was time for a new one. Next problem in researching, is there an IPod 7 coming? Lots of speculation but the answer seems to be that it was expected but may not happen. This is a generation 6 with a side lanyard. We don’t pay monthly charges for anything except Netflix, so no cell phones. We use WiFi for using the IPod everywhere for picture taking, looking up addresses, Apps, shopping, music...everything your phones does except phone calls. We protected this with an Otterbox and FYI...the 5th and 6th cases are the same thing so buy by price.

very versatile

In addition to the obvious musical playlists , I enjoy its many apps. One recent example is the ability to locate common items that can be misplaced, such as my keys or my television remote. This is especially useful to my medically challenged spouse. Thank you, Hector Crespo

just like Iphone with NO PHONE ability

Also has all the apps that the Iphone has. His phone is a flip phone. wants this for all music to hook to speakers to listen to.
