I also got the wireless Magic keyboard for him. He loves the wireless one, did not even touch the package on this. Still in original packaging. If you do not need the numeric keypad, then paired with a supporting Apple computer, you cannot go wrong with the Magic keyboard. I suggest you stick with that.
