After trying the cheap versions from amazon I decided to bite the bullet and buy Apple pin connector - what a difference in quality! This one didn't pull apart after a couple uses!

My son has a 2008 Jetta that comes preinstalled with the 30pin Apple connector. This connector works perfectly on his IPhone 6S. i wish it wasn't so expensive though

Purchasing the cable might cost a little bit more than just the adapter but you get the extra cable length for only a few bucks more. To me it was worth it.
