IT WORK GREAT ON MY IPHONE RADIO WITH OLDER VERSION CONNECTOR

This works great for the devices that have the 30 pins to Apple's new lightning connector. This piece is expensive especially since Apple should have included this with the iPhones. Still cheaper than buying a new iHome though.

It is a required piece of extra stuff now needed to even charge the new ipods. i think it was just a way to make money but it is required so just buy it and move on.

i don't like the fact that you need to take the case off to be able to used not worth all the hassle

I initially bought this due to my iPhone 5 charger dying. I intended on using this on my docking station radio. However when it sits on the docking station it reverberates while it plays music.

Simply does not fit if your iPhone 6 (or 5) has a case on it. Not fit for purpose.

Like many people with an iPhone, I have many accessories including an iHome alarm clock, old 30 pin cables from previous phones and ipods, and most important to me - my HDMI adapter. I travel a lot and I keep my HDMI adpater and an HDMI cable in my laptop bag so I can watch media and Netflix on my hotel room tv. This adapter supports none of the above. I can't control the music from my alarm clock, and I can't output video. All this thing does is convert an old 30 pin cable into the cable that came with your iPhone 5. For $10 less you can just buy a lightning to USB cable. This adpater is simply a ripoff. Don't waste your time or money.

Got one and not soon after realized these were going for $10-$15 elsewhere. Needless to say at least one of these should have been included with the iphone if apple hasnt become what microsoft used to be. it outputs audio but no video when i hook it up to my tv.

This design is not compatible with most (perhaps all) cases. With the amount of people with difficult-to-remove cases on their phone Apple has made 3rd party companies who will listen to customer complaints very rich!

I bought this and returned it. It would not go in all the way with my phone case on, and I'm not going to take it off every time I charge my phone. I don't understand why they had to change it anyway, I had several extra's of the older kind, but with the price of this I will only be buying one. Very disappointing!

It's aggravating in the first place that Apple replaced the 30-pin plug with the lightning plug. I have several older devices that use the older plug and now one new one that takes a completely different plug. I bought the adapter thinking I could use it with my older cables as it is designed, but discovered that it will not work with the Apple Smart Case for the iPad Air because the thickness of the case won't allow the lightning plug on the adapter to be fully inserted into the iPad. It's going back to the store for a refund today. This is typical of Apple to design a proprietary product that won't even work with some of their other products.

Bad enough that you have to buy a bunch of these (at $29 each - not inexpensive) if you want to use any of your old products (in my case, the most important one being my Bose Sound Dock) with the new iPhone 5. But to make matters worse, Apple couldn't even make this adaptor a bit longer so that you could use it with a case?? You have to take the case off (mine is not easy to take off) every time you want to use this. What a pain! I did not have to remove the case when connecting my iPhone 4 to a charger or my Bose. Did Apple seriously not take this into consideration??

If you have a case for your iPhone 5, this adapter will NOT work! Tried with a speck case and otterbox but the connector was too short to connect with the added thickness of a case. For the otterbox, even if you trim off the port cover, this adapter will not fit. When plugged into vehicle it does charge and play music. But it will NOT display album artwork or information (artist, album, song, etc.) I will be receiving the cable adapter in three days and am keeping my fingers crossed! At least I know it will work with a case...

I thought the other reviews had to be wrong, why would Apple sell an adaptor that doesn't fit over a case? Well, they do, and it's a super poor design and pretty useless unless you don't use a case. I prefer Incipio cases because they saved my iPhone 4 when it fell out of my motorcycle at highway speeds. Case and phone intact! Barely a scratch. I'm not taking off my case to use an adaptor.

What a waste of money! My 12 yr old spent her own hard-earned money on this adapter so she could use an iphone 5 with an ihome dock to play her itunes. The catch is, it only works if she removes the case from the phone, which is not so easy. Apple did not make the adapter long enough to hold an encased iphone in place. Very frustrating and disappointing.

Expensive, and does not work with a casing on. I would sacrifice the price if it works with a casing on
