It works, but I'm very bitter about the price. You either need it or you don't.

Good converter

Doesn't work on iPhones with protective case.

The width difference stops the lighting pins from going in far enough to charge either an iPhone or iPad.

You will have to remove the case to use it. I think there is something Apple could do to work with this problem.
