I bought this hoping that it would function as a transfer device. It will not transfer pictures from your iPhone to a flash drive or external drive. It is only for cameras to a drive with lightening cable end. Ended up using Shutterfly free storage option to free up space on my iPhone without losing my pictures. Good luck!

My car has an hdmi adapter. I use this to connect my iPhone to the hdmi plug and everything on my phone is now on my car information screen. There is a way to bypass the "only works when vehicle is stationary", so if you can do that to your vehicle, then you can use it for gps and anything else you can get on your phone.

The cost of this adapter may seem a bit much, but it is truly the best adapter to get the job done. I have played with several after market adapters before purchasing the Apple camera adapter, and they all had their flaws and shortcomings. Plug and go, that’s it. I use this on both my iPhone and iPad to record audio and the process is seamless. The amount of money I’ve spent on other “cheaper” adapters, and to be continually replacing them, has added up to more then what this Apple adapter has cost me. Save yourself the hassle and money, and just purchase this Apple adapter. You won’t regret it.

If you use a keyboard or a DSLR camera and have an iPhone or iPad you need this adapter. Bluetooth midi on iOS is still unstable if you can get it to work at all and trancerong photos has never been easier

We bought this for my wife to use for downloading her camera to her IPad. We did not use it, since we had the adapter for her old IPad, we returned this and purchased the small adapter that went from the old to the new IPad. However this looked like a very nice unit and would be very handy if you did not have the older adapter already.

Had to have for a picture swap between products. Easy to use. A little pricey but that’s what you expect for apple products!

I picked this up so I could connect my iPad to our Casio Privia keyboard and use Synthesia to help my son learn the piano. It takes seconds to plug in and the keyboard is recognized by Synthesia immediately along with GarageBand if you prefer.

I didn't want to have to buy both a new iPad and a new computer at the same time, but I needed to replace both. This allowed me to get an iPad Pro with a detachable keyboard and it functions as both. This cord let's me download to a thumb drive.
