This keyboard/case really does transform the iPad into a workhorse. I went into it not sure I would even like my precious iPad stuck in this thing. Turns out I love it. If I am going to be sitting down to use my iPad, I want it to be in this. So amazingly more convenient to pop this open and make a note or look something up. If I'm going to be using the iPad standing up, I will pop it out of this and put it back in it's old case. The keyboard is nice to type on. The trackpad is super useful once you get your brain past the idea that you are using an iPad without touching it. Nice to be able to do things while keeping your hands close to the keyboard. I think of things to type on this just because it is so fun. It is quite expensive, but works very well.

I waited and was able to purchase this item discounted $150. It’s somewhat heavy, but quite useful when you working with a document or in certain apps. The keyboard and touchpad work flawlessly. This was a good purchase.

Great product. Was worried about the protection and functionality. However, those are both great features of the device. The price tag is a little high but it makes the iPad way more functional as a computer! Well worth it. Would recommend.

A little pricey but worth it for the trackpad. Has an extra USB-C port on the opposite side of the one on the iPad which is great. Only able to use the iPad in landscape mode and having to take the iPad off to use the Apple Pencil are the downsides.

I’ve been writing on my MacBook forever. I’ve had a couple keyboards for my various iPads but none of them felt right. None of them were like the mac. Until this one! Not only are the keys feeling like keyboard keys right now to my fingers but they behave just like they should. You know what I mean. And to put a cherry on it I even like the sound of my typing. The magnetic holder at first seemed like it wouldn’t work because of it’s limited range but I soon found out the range of tilt is what the range should be. As in keeping my precious iPad within the bounds of tipping. Writing is effortless on this thing, and I’m thinking of giving the MacBook to the teenager which would elevate me to hero status around here.

This keyboard is absolutely awesome. It is NOT the sizzor touch key mechanism in previous MacBooks (which was the main reasons I did not upgrade to those models). Very high quality. Rigid enough to stay in place allowing you to tap on the screen and not wiggle front and back too much. Lite keys are great feature as well as the charging port. Also, unlike other keyboards, it allows you to easily use multi function port devices attached to the side of the iPad. Unfortunately, it's a very expensive device. They next best keyboard in my opinion for several reasons is the Logitech that Best Buy carries. Much of the same functions as the Magic Keyboard at half the price. If you're going to use a keyboard frequently, you will not be disappointed with the Magic Keyboard.

For the price it is okay, it makes me iPad a lot heavier even though it is very slick. I have tried multiple other keyboards for the iPad pro and nothing really compares. Apple did a great job at making this seamlessly compatible (obviously) but the price is ridiculous. If you don’t absolutely need this for work/shool, I’d pass.

Great Keyboard for the IPad Pro

Yes, I highly recommend the magic keyboard. My typing feels so natural and the floating design is very appealing. The trackpad is very nice to use and very much feels like a laptop. I’ve never owned a Mac so I can’t compare this to a Mac computer, but I must say this feels very much like a laptop computer. I almost purchased the MacBook Air in addition to my IPad Pro but so happy I didn’t now with this magic keyboard purchase. I find everything I need to do very much at ease with this keyboard. I’m still learning the gestures for the trackpad and all the tips/tricks for the keyboard but yes I again highly recommend. This is pricey but I think it’s worth the investment for your IPad Pro. I’m returning my Logitech slim folio since the magic keyboard feels more natural for my typing and comfortable. Wish the best!

Great product to buy when it's on sale

I'll admit, I was hesitant to purchase the Apple Magic Keyboard at first when I saw its list price. I thought that it would end up being an over-engineered, overpriced Apple product that looked cool but did much of the same things as a lower priced alternative. That was my mindset when I started to look for a new keyboard for my iPad Pro 12.9" since my old Logitech keyboard that worked with my 1st gen iPad Pro 12.9" was not compatible with the 4th gen version I upgraded to recently. However, after finding the Magic Keyboard on sale at Best Buy for 40+% off the original list price and comparing it to some other options, I decided to bite the bullet and buy one. Looking back on my decision, I'm glad I did but, honestly, I'm also equally glad I waited until I could purchase it at what I viewed as a much more reasonable price. As much as I like the Magic Keyboard, I still wouldn't pay the list price since it's possible to buy a brand new, entry level iPad for a lower price than the list price for the Magic Keyboard. I've found the Magic Keyboard to be a solid, well-engineered product. While it's not the lightest keyboard option available, it definitely has a solid feel and weight to it that makes me think I'll be able to use it for years (like I did with my original Logitech keyboard for my 1st gen iPad Pro) but, this time, without small pieces falling off of it as it aged as was the unfortunate case with my old Logitech keyboard in the last two years I owned it. In my view, the Magic Keyboard would be perfect if there was a way for the user to rotate the iPad back and forth between a horizontal and portrait orientation. Although when the day does come when Apple's engineers design a keyboard with that capability, I imagine it will likely come with a $600 list price. ;-)

My biggest regret is that this is the third keyboard I got for my iPad Pro. The keyboard I purchased with my iPad, from another manufacturer, was less expensive AND metal. I loved it, until my iPad fell and one of the keyboard’s hinges broke, rendering it useless. I should have seen the handwriting on the wall then, but instead replaced it with the same brand. The next time it fell (because the rubber padding stuck to the counter when I was trying to pick it up) it destroyed my iPad. $600 repair bill later, I knew I had to spend the extra few bucks to get this one. It is PERFECT! Protects my IPad as well as turns it into a touch screen laptop.

I was on the fence about purchasing The Smart Keyboard. The product seemed to be over priced. After receiving the product today. Here is my review. Huge improvement on the keyboard keys. The keys feel like butter compared to the Apple Smart Keyboard folio. What has impressed me the most is the trackpad. It feels great any where on the trackpad, it flows across the screen. The Cursor is intuitive. In summary, I use my iPad Pro a lot when I’m traveling or making sales calls. This was smart purchase for me. If you use an iPad Pro instead of laptop (MacBookPro) this can be a worthy purchase. It's to bad it's not at a lower cost point.

Very beautiful design and functions well. The trackpad and keyboard make your iPad feel like a true laptop. Decent laptop replacement for when I go on flights/trips and can't take everything with me. It is quite heavy though. The keyboard itself weighs more than the ENTIRE iPad, keep that in mind. It really does become heavy once you have both

you know 1. it’s expensive, 2. its just a keyboard, 3. it’s expensive for a keyboard. But If i’m honest I jumped through every hoop I could to get this, because I had another keyboard from Brydge that I really enjoyed but didn’t have a track pad, or...hinges that didn’t get broke(hahaha). Anyway after the 2nd brydge keyboard and still wanting a keyboard with a trackpad i settled on the apple magic keyboard, so i waited got an open box and saved up my points!!! Even at 200 beans it hurt, but what an investment, it has immediate response to inputs to the keyboard unlike the brydge(bluetooth) because of the direct connection. The trackpad has many of the same gestures that I’m used to on my MacBook.

Great Product - but don’t buy Open Box

This is a great piece of hardware that provides a far better typing experience than Apple’s smart folio keyboard. It does make the iPad a bit bulkier and heavier, and isn’t spillproof like the folio keyboard; but if none of those are big concerns for you - definitely choose this as your keyboard option, particularly if you can catch it on sale. The only other advice I have is to NOT buy this Open Box sight-unseen. I originally ordered an “Open Box - Excellent” product and it arrived looking more worn than the smart folio keyboard I’ve been using daily for two years. I promptly returned it and simply bought new; the apparent wear wasn’t worth the modest savings.

I highly recommend this keyboard, it really completes the iPad, is comfortable, backlit illuminated, smooth typing, and it gives you a whole new experience, if money is not an issue, and you want a portable device for browsing the internet, check emails, watch movies , this is perfect!! And on top of everything, Apple Pencil is supported and it attaches magnetically on the top , battery drain is ok , nothing to worry about it, and since it has four speakers , I have to say, is very enjoyable, I was very reluctant of buying it due to its high price, but it’s absolutely worth it, type, zoom with your fingertips, use your Apple Pencil, take beautiful pictures.... it turn the tablet into a Super Handy Tablet....

I just upgraded my iPad from my 2nd generation to the 4th gen. I decided to go with this keyboard for the sleek look, trackpad, and magnetic feature. I would have given the keyboard 5 stars but while beautiful and sleek I think apple could have done a little more with it. Here are just a few things that might help someone else make a decision about his product. I travel internationally a lot and thought it would be great to have a case/keyboard in one but it's a little bit heavy. I also have a 15" MacBook Pro...so my laptop, iPad & magic keyboard and a couple of portable hard drives inside a relatively light backpack and I've almost reach my international carryon limit of 7 kilos/15lbs. The Magic keyboard is also not very flexible. What you see in the product photo is about the extent of it's flexible. Lastly, I had a Logitech keyboard case with my previous iPad which did not have the magnetic/charging feature or trackpad but it had a few extra buttons that I wish were include on this keyboard...iPad backlight dimmer (darker/brighter), keyboard dimmer, play-back-forward track controls, and volume up-down-mute buttons. I hope this helps.
