This is perfect for those on the go. No set up required. It's basically pack and go. The slim design allows for easy packing and doesn't take up much space. I love that I can place this into my purse and be on my way instead of hauling around my laptop, which can be a bit cumbersome with space and weight. I'd recommend this for anyone traveling. This is the best there is out there yet.

Do you want a laptop but with the portability and light weight function of an iPad. That's basically what the magic keyboard does. It attaches so easily with the magnetic cover and makes the iPad basically a small portable laptop. It's fantastic!! I hate typing on tablet keyboards, I find it slow and tedious. A keyboard with a mouse trackpad is an absolute gamechanger. And it easily travels with the iPad as it closes like a case instead of a Bluetooth keyboard that you would need to carry around as well. The magic keyboard is absolutely worth the money if you have an iPad.

    Heavy and expensive but worthwhile

First, the cost, yes this is absurdly expensive, especially considering that you can get an x64 or x86 2-in-1 Chrome book for the price of the keyboard by itself. I’ve had a number of them and even the Surface Pro, which is arguably the best, is still a mediocre laptop and terrible tablet when it comes down to it, and its just a fact of engineering. x64 chips need cooling and chew through battery like crazy. Increasing battery and cooling takes up space and makes for a laptop that thermal throttles and a tablet that’s too big and unwieldy to serve the function of a tablet. This keyboard finally makes the ipad Pro a serious contender in terms of ARM based options so you get all the portability and battery life of a proper tablet while finally getting access to more capable apps. I’ve transitioned a lot of my work to the ipad over the last couple of years. Presentations, word processing, drawing mockups and even editing short videos and rough cuts are not only possible but add capability that wasn’t as feasible on a full size laptop. White board demos and drawing is just incredibly easy when presenting from an ipad. The major drawbacks were A, the keyboard and B the lack of a power + HDMI out. I got an adapter that solved the second issue but it’s great that this keyboard now has a separate power input. None of my older keyboards came close to matching this though, and I have going through a half-dozen logitech keyboards and Apple’s own keyfolio which was better than the logitech boards but annoying due to the limited positions. I was commuting back and forth to Asia 4 times per year and trying to get anything done on a 15 inch laptop in a cramped little coach seat is a hassle, but trying to type on an unlit keyboard in a darkened plane was also a hassle. This keyboard has really brought the ipad pro into its own as a proper laptop replacement now and the typing experience with it has made my 11 inch ipad pro comparable to my 16” macbook in terms of typing comfort and speed. The trackpad helps a ton when working in graphic apps and video editing, anything that requires a bit more precision than a touch interface and my fat finger allows, so I’ve got the best of both worlds in terms of pen and mouse input now. It’s kind of crazy how smooth 4k editing is on an ipad compared to a full size laptop now too now that I have a trackpad and proper keyboard. I think the bottom line for me is whether I would recommend it over my XPS 15, and yes, absolutely 100% unequivocally yes. Even without this keyboard the ipad pro did more, more reliably and in a more comfortable form factor, with better battery life than the XPS did. Can I do a lot of complex video editing on it? No, but in fairness, even though the software runs on the XPS it wasn’t a terribly capable video editor either and with the fan noise as soon as premiere opened, it wasn’t a particularly pleasant experience. For the kind of heavy lifting that you would want a more powerful machine to do, you may as well get a desktop. An ipad pro still isn’t going to fulfill every need for me. It isn’t going to run Houdini and Premiere and After Effects, but it has finally made the laptop an unnecessary intermediary between my 24 core workstation and my portable every day kit and for day-to-day office work it’s much better than a laptop.

Probably the best keyboard I’ve ever gotten. The Magic Keyboard automatically connects so I don’t ever have to worry about reconnecting/ a lag on the keys. Been a game changer for using my iPad and has basically turned my iPad into a laptop that is just so much easier to carry around. A bit on the expensive side, but I think it’s well worth it.
