I was skeptical about the benefits vs cost of this keyboard. I feared for nothing... its totally worth every penny! I love how it holds the iPad at whatever angle you set it to and the trackpad is awesome! It really does give the iPad a very laptop feel! I find myself actually using my iPad more than my laptop! If I had a complaint, it would be that it is a bit on the heavy side. Other than that, its a keeper!

This keyboard is a joy to type on with great key travel and sufficient spacing between the keys. I also love the trackpad, which is small but performs beautifully. I get all the viewing angles I need for my different usage scenarios. Some reviews on YouTube made me worry that it would be too heavy for my liking, but it turned out to be still comfortably light and portable. It’s expensive but it’s well worth it for me.

I owned the smart folio for a long time, refused to pay the high premium for this keyboard. However, 2 things made me give this a try. My iPad kept falling on its back when I put it on my lap forcing me to put pressure on the keyboard while typing, and I wanted to have the option to work with the lights off after my wife went to sleep. And this thing worked great! It's super stable and the backlit feature is phenomenal. It is a little heavier than the smart folio and you need to take the iPad off the keayboard to use it in vertical mode. Battery has not been an issue. I would definitely recommend it for the right reasons. Smart folio is also great. It all depends on how or what you use your iPad for.

I love this thing. I originally purchased a rival device to save money, but after seeing one of these in action decided I wanted the real deal. The construction of this thing is awesome, and its sturdy even on laps, couches, beds, etc. I am impressed with the look and feel and functionality, and while I wish it was less expensive, its worth every penny.

Ok, the good first.. this thing has a truly premium feel. Regardless of your opinion of Apple as a company, one thing they do well is make devices that just feel like they’re a cut above anything else and the Magic Keyboard is no exception. The keys feel really nice, it doesn’t feel like a cheap membrane keyboard. It uses Scissor Style switches with a really solid feel. The spacing is just enough to make it so your hands aren’t cramped and can type at your full speeds. The illumination ranges from Off to Dimly Lit all the way up to downright bright. It should be pretty easy for anyone to set the lighting how they want it. The iPad attaches magnetically and it detects and uses the keyboard automatically with no cables and the tablet doesn’t even need to have bluetooth turned on. The spine of the case holds a USB Type C Port that can be used for powering the laptop, but the keyboard mounted USB will not transfer data so you will have to plug into the iPad itself to do PC backups to iTunes. The only real downside is the price. While it’s a great product in every way, $300 for a keyboard is tough to swallow. Ultimately, I decided it was worth it since it basically turns an iPad into a small factor laptop and really adds a new dimension of function to the iPad. It’s a great product, I just would prefer it wasn’t so expensive. This review was typed on the Magic Keyboard.

    GAME CHANGER

After a car accident and subsequent cervical fusion, I began relying on my iPad Pro for basically anything and everything, outside a few things I left to my MacBook Pro. I love taking my iPad with me and long wanted to be able to leave the 15” MacBook Pro at home (unless I was headed to class or something where I’d need the bigger screen). Until THIS CASE, though, bringing the iPad was solely for reading. The keys are amazing, which I expected given they’re the same as the Mac line (the standalone Magic Keyboard; the keyboard in the 13” 2020 MBP and 16” MBP). The backlight does help, although I wish there was an easier way to manually control that (like on the Mac). Like the excellent keyboard, the trackpad is top-notch and I personally love their approach to cursors in iPadOS. Finally, the USB-C power port on the left side of the case is a winner! The only downside, really, is the complete lack of function row keys / escape key. I presume it was a space issue: include the functional control row and escape key BUT the primary keys (QWERTY + Numbers, etc.) would have to shrink and that wouldn’t feel as good / wouldn’t be as easier to type. Overall, the Magic Keyboard truly makes the iPad Pro the perfect device in the Apple family: all the stuff that makes iPhone great, including the touch screen, but also a solid work experience with the best of the Mac incorporated. Its so good, I usually only travel with my iPad Pro.

No other 3rd party keyboard can do it like apple can. A little heavy but its manageable for on the go. The tilt is super cool, just a great addition to the ecosystem

    Best. Accessory. EVER

This seriously has to be the most I have ever used an accessory. The thing is, they call it the Magic Keyboard for a reason. It quite literally feels like magic, or at least something that has not been matched. The mousepad is the perfect size, keyboard is nice, compact and has an impressive backlight! Apple has outdone itself in my opinion. The magnet is both strong but not so strong that it is hard to take the IPAD off of the holder. The only thing I didn’t like is the limited angle adjustment. It doesn’t bother me too much, but sometimes I would like to get a wider angle to view the IPAD from. Other than that, the Magic Keyboard gives you the power of a MacBook while the IPAD gives you the mobile component and together it seamlessly blends both together, opening up a world of possibilities.

This is essentially a folio case with a very svelte and quality keyboard on it. It's a big improvement from earlier Apple keyboards in that the typing feels so much better. Plus the magnetic connection is strong! Another great selling point is the USB-C port on the side. Where this fails is in the price, which is REALLY too expensive for a keyboard attachment, and the fact that the keyboard lacks any media/function keys. For that price, they could have added them and still kept the size small. But otherwise it's a premium accessory and it feels like it.

    Great keyboard

This keyboard is very light on its own, but once you add your iPad Air or pro it will be a bit of a weight and you can feel that weight. Other than that, the upper keys such as functions keys, your finger will bump to the underside of your iPad. I feel it needs more space between those upper keys and the bottom of the iPad. I feel this an Apple design flaw. Something Apple can better the ergonomics behind this keyboard design. It has a USB-C port where you can charge your iPad. Other than that, I recommend Best Buy protection over Apple care plan, it’s cheaper and they can replace it if it can’t be repaired. I prefer black over white as time will get the white keys dirty and look ugly.

Well worth the money. I was able to use the Best Buy price match guarantee because Walmart was offering a super low price for the Magic Keyboard. Great purchase, especially considering that I purchased this well under the normal pricing. My only gripe about the magic keyboard is that when you use the iPad as a tablet there is no protection for it.

I bought this to replace my windows laptop for work. This completely transforms the ipad from a consumption device to a work device. I have always been a windows user mostly because of professional reasons, but combining this with an ipad pro, and using remote desktop apps for heavy work makes this the perfect laptop replacement. Expensive, but totally worth it for the right user.

When I replaced my 2017 iPad Pro with the new M1 model, I also replaced my excellent Logitech folio with the Magic Keyboard. As much as I liked my Logitech, I like the Apple product better, and find that I am using my iPad more often. I can balance the iPad on my lap, which is enormously useful both for web surfing and for taking meeting notes.
