Great Addition for a 10.9 iPad Air

I love this keyboard. It’s really well built. For me, the keys have a great feel. I love that I can easily take my iPad Air off and just use it as a tablet. But, when I want to be productive, easily attach the keyboard and start working. The keyboard is quite heavy compared to the iPad Air, but this weight makes typing on a desk or lap more secure. The trackpad addition is great. Definitely makes your iPad more productive. What makes this keyboard even better is that I was able to price match it when it was on sale at a different store. Saved almost 50%.

Better than the 1st Gen Smart Keyboard

Purchased the Apple Smart Keyboard Folio to replace the 1st Smart Keyboard. After a few years of wear and tear, the egdes start to peel & come apart along with the magnet not holding the iPad very strong. It was time to upgrade. This has a much better composition & feel then the previous and the keyboard & trackpad is a must.

This case has transformed how I interact with my iPad Pro. Before using this case I had the Apple Smart Keyboard Folio and this puts that case to shame in most situations. The typing experience is significantly better with the magic keyboard and the magnets are significantly stronger. Having a built in trackpad and backlit keyboard are also great. Some people have complained about not being able to find it backwards, but I velvet liked the feeling of the keys when using it in tablet mode anyway. I’ve also used the Logitech Combo Touch keyboard case and this blows that out of the water! Yeah it’s expensive, but worth the money in my opinion.

Largely depends on how you use your iPad

I bought this because the virtual keyboard takes up too much screen space when on email or excel in landscape mode and I wanted to try a physical keyboard. If you are using this on a desk or table and like using a trackpad, you will find that it is very solid and makes your iPad feel more like a laptop. It's best used as a keyboard dock for people who want to remove the iPad to use without a cover. It's not as good a match for using on your lap. It's less stable, and having the keyboard gets in the way somewhat with you being able to use the touchscreen. As a case, it's heavy and I wouldn't count on this to protect the edges if it's dropped on a hard surface.

The Magic Keyboard is an expensive addition to an already expensive iPad Pro. I tend to think that you get what you pay for with this item, however. The build quality is very solid. The keyboard is comfortable for typing (and its backlit). The touchpad takes the iPad experience to another level (and is something that Apple should have thought about including support for in the iPad years ago). The biggest complaint I have is that this keyboard is definitely designed to accommodate the iPad as though it were part of a laptop. There is no effective way to lay the iPad down and have it propped up at a subtle angle using this keyboard (which is something my daughter does all the time when drawing on the iPad). Rather, we have to disconnect the iPad from the keyboard and then prop it up manually with something else. There are other less expensive options available, but not many. Until others jump on board with a competing design, the Magic Keyboard is really nice, albeit for a premium price.

This keyboard is top tier. It is only day one and i just felt it needed a review. I bought the logi keyboard first and it didnt work with the ZAGG screen protector. Returned it and got an open box in good condition and its like new.

So I just received this yesterday. Upgrading from my apple keyboard folio. Pros: Backlight keys- great when working in low light areas and don't want to turn on bright lights Keys- feel much more like a real keyboard and less like the awful butterfly keys of recent MacBooks. Build- Feels very sturdy, does not lean/tip back which is nice. Things that could be changed: The angle for some will be an issue, for what I do it is fine but I could see some not liking the angles it bends. Weight- It is definitely heavy, although when sitting it down and using it the weight kind of goes away. If you carry it around all day maybe that would be an issue for you. Again YYMV. Price- Expensive, but it is apple, what else is new? lol Overall I am enjoying it so far and definitely recommend.

[Employee of bestbuy] It's easily 4.5/5, the only two issues: Mac users will notice no two tap for right clicks option. The magnet occasionally struggles to support the weight primarily due to the angling ability, even with no added stickers or accessories. This thing has me constantly trying to tap things on my MacBook screen, it is really an excellent case in addition to being a keyboard and touchpad. It is pricey but worth it.
