You can't get around it... this keyboard is expensive... $300 for the 11" iPad Pro. I hesitated on buying it for this one reason, but I decided to give it a try. Now, it has become an indispensable tool in my workflow. Excellent keys and typing experience, and an excellent trackpad.

This is a very nice keyboard.....but.....I was lead to believe when you provided power to the keyboard, it would also charge your iPad...Will NOT do that! The wording on the Apple site is slightly misleading so beware. Also, it really adds a lot of weight and is cumbersome to carry around, so I feel it is more of a desk accessory than something you want to carry from place to place. On the plus side, the tilting feather for the iPad is really nice and holds it into position. So, if you just need a nice keyboard, I recommend it. If you're going to be moving from spot to spot, uh, not so much. Pretty heavy. I returned mine and waiting on Best Buy to credit my card!

3 week honest review: Half-baked, not worth $300

The 11" iPad Magic Keyboard after a few weeks: It's full of so many bad compromises that it was clearly invented after the iPad Pro was designed, or the 11" is unusable compared to the 12". Apple needs to learn a lesson about price vs convenience, and I will probably return it. The keyboard is noisy compared to the Smart Keyboard Folio. Not that smart for $180, and also has that terrible soft touch material that degrades after a year, but it's dead quiet and the key spacing is better. The touchpad is game-changing for iPad. They nailed the UI, and I want a touchpad. But it's too short and I hit the edge all the time. While you can press anywhere, it's too heavy a press, and no double-tap hold or three finger hold gestures to replace pressing it for selection. The continuous screen angle is almost good: While it mercifully angles to 90 degrees for viewing at head height, the other angle is worse than the Smart Folio, and not enough for your lap. 5 more degrees is needed, but the case would tip backwards from balance issues. Bad design. The backlight keys are nice, and the other issues are forgivable. But not this: When angled fully (on a lap), I CONSTANTLY hit my fingers on the bottom of the iPad when typing on the top two rows. I can't press delete without being punished physically for my mistake. Typing issues are unforgivable for any keyboard, let alone a $300 keyboard that's only usable on one specific model of iPad. The issues all clearly show Apple never realized they were going to build this when they designed the 11" Pro and the placement of the "smart" connectors. They might have done the best they could when they designed this–they threw almost everything in. But it's all so half-baked that it doesn't get anywhere near what I expect from Apple at any price point.

I love my iPad and it’s great. Fast, nice screen and the pencil works with ease but the keyboard makes this the ultimate system. Keyboard is spaced well enough with the keys and the trackpad is a good size. This is best thing to a laptop with the versatility of the iPad when needed.

I’ve already bought 3 of these 4th gen iPad Air for various people in my life, so that says a lot. It’s got just about the right mixture of features and performance for almost anyone’s needs at a (relatively) really good price in Apple’s line-up.

Made for table top use only due to limited angle of adjustment, is heavy, adds considerable amout of weight, easy to use and makes ipad resemble laptop.

Easy to break which is disappointing for such an expensive keyboard but good functionality otherwise. My spacebar requires a harder push than I would expect but I'm dealing with it rather than buying a new one.
