Charging input in weird place

Not sure on date. After unpacking it we looked for the place to put the batteries. After turning it on it operated well for about two or three minutes and then, QUIT. After much deliberation with family, one suggested checking the internet to see if someone else had had the same problem. You guessed it. The little switch on the bottom is NOT Quite Right, and cannot be pressed all the way on, but, just kind of nudged in that direction. Then it turns on and stays on. It still will quit once in awhile.
