Nearly perfect with one MAJOR flaw

Magic Mouse 2 represents a significant upgrade from its predecessor. The best way to describe the magic mouse 2 is that it's like using a traditional mouse combined with a trackpad thanks to its touch sensitive surface - this creates the opportunity for very useful navigation gestures. The mouse is responsive and performs well. One MAJOR misstep - and a very surprising one given Apple's obsession with design and simplicity - is the absurd placement of the lighting port used for charging - it's located literally smack-dab on the bottom surface of the mouse. In other words, you cannot charge and use the mouse simultaneously. Is this a deal-breaker? No, not at all....but it is a bit perplexing and ultimately downgrades an otherwise nearly perfect device.

Good features but feels strange in the hand

This mouse has great features but it is taking a while to get used to the low profile. It feels a little awkward with continued use. The rechargeable battery feature is great.

wish they would have said you have to be running latest OS for it to fully function. Long battery life, big improvement over AAA batteries.

    I wanted to love it

I want to love this mouse. Like all Apple products there's an undeniable build sophistication that's virtually unparalleled, certainly expected. But this thing just plain feels horrible in the hand. It's awkward to hold, it feels like I'm forced to extend my fingers into an unnatural position to interact with it, so I never feel like I have a good grip on it. If I hold my hand down to my side and relax it, the shape of my fingers should be the shape of the mouse. And since my hands don't naturally form a shape like I'm casting a spell, this doesn't work. All joking aside it makes the gestures, which is the prime attraction of this mouse, feel awkward. Add to that the surprisingly limited configuration of the driver. I ended up maxing out the mouse speed and still feel like I'm in second gear. Finally the fact that you have to plug it in for charging underneath seems to be a poor design. That means if you let it run out you can't use it while charging. I'm suspecting they didn't want to mar that exquisite shape. Form over function. That said the battery life is said to be incredible so that may not be an issue if the notifications work well. Unfortunately I won't have it long enough to find out I'm sorry to say. I've seen plenty of reviews that speak to these same issues and the great predominance are overwhelmingly positive, so I hoped I would fall into that category. Unfortunately I fall into the apparent minority.

    More than just a mouse

Like the extra gestures available compared to an ordinary mouse. I like the method used to scroll without a scroll wheel. Using under El Capitan without problem. I use with a mouse mat which has a wrist pad and find the Magic Mouse ergonomics to be comfortable. Under Bootcamp with Windows 10, it works but without the extra gestures. When booting Windows 10 I have noticed a slight delay from the time the desktop is visible until the mouse starts working, sometimes I will click a button to get the mouse working.

    JUNK

5 Magic Mouse 2.s have failed simply from normal use and never left this location. I am 61 and use it in one place. It is another device where the warranty is NOT extended for good reason yet in Apple tradition, obscenely overpriced at $79.99. I have 7 Logitech mouse products that changed with technology. I am using an 11 year old one now that requires it's wireless technology to work through a USB stick. However, it has NEVER FAILED and cost much less.

This is a great mouse. I like how you can scroll without the clicking of the scroller you would normally have on other mouses... mice... whatever... Also like the bluetooth connectivity so you don't have to use a USB to connect it. Also very sleek.

    Recharging a hassle

A triumph of design over functionality, the charging port is on the bottom side, so when you recharge the battery, the mouse can't be used. I liked the battery one better, though I had to stick foil strips in it to make sure the batteries made contact. It doesn't fit my hand comfortably, but my wife likes it, and it's for her computer.

    No Batteries Needed

Of course the mouse works great. However, I have had a Magic Mouse for years and mine relies on batteries. The newer version has a lightening charger so batteries aren't needed. I prefer the batteries but you can never have too many lightening charger cables so I'm not going to complain.
