I have recently decided to abandon Windows OS forever, so I got the Mac mini for my big monitor and I needed all the accessories for the mini. This trackpad is absolutely magic, functions well and smooth without needing to use a mouse, soft touch and responsive. High quality and worth every penny.

    Trackpad vs Mouse

I like it. But my desk has very limited space so i was moving it around all the time. And recently decided to try out the mouse. I like both but have been using the mouse more since it doenst take up as much space and bc the top layer of my desk is one big mouse pad. I do like how both options have the gesture's features.

Just got this so I could work away from my monitor, but it is amazing. It has a very large space for your hands, lots of surface area to work with and very responsive to the touch. I like the color and it's compact size is easy to store. Great for work and just surfing the internet. The lack of batteries is the main reason I bought this and I have only charged it once since I bought it a month ago and it's still at 60%. Very happy with this purchase.

Unlike the bluetooth keyboard (reviewed separately) the price of this item is a little more understandable, especially as an Apple product. Where the keyboard is basically a standard wireless keyboard, this trackpad is a think of beauty with a wonderful design. I've always used mice and loved them, but the experience on a MacBook with their wonderful trackpads have changed my mind about trackpads entirely. Apple trackpads are the only laptop trackpads I can use for hours without regretting not plugging in a mouse. Ultimately, this is why I choose this device as an external I/O device. The design is wonderful, with the same haptic feedback you get on a MacBook and the wonderful surface area that is a pleasure to grace with the tips of your fingers. This external device is larger that what you get in most MacBooks and slightly larger still than the most recent MacBook Pro trackpad (which was also much larger than previous iterations). My only gripe - as I stated in the bluetooth keyboard review - was with the signal. I'm not entirely sure if this is just due to my setup and signal iterference form other devices, but I need to move my laptop closer and under my monitors rather than off to the side of my desk, moving from about 3 ft to about 1.5 ft. This was necessary as the signal quality was terrible and the mouse would jump all over like some second-rate bluetooth product being used from across the room (like the crappy stuff you often find in business conference rooms). This was unacceptable but moving things closer has completely cleared up the issue. The battery life is pretty remarkable for this trackpad. I often tend to leave it on forgetting to switch off the power in the evenings after work but it still holds a charge for couple weeks without issue. The battery level is easily seen in the bluetooth settings and information in the OS (adding this to the task bar is helpful to easily check levels). If you like the trackpads on the MacBook lineup and are in the market for a great external pointer device, I recommend this device.

This is simply the best computer peripheral I have ever used. So much so, I don't even want to use my mouse anymore. It is about a size of a small paperback book. It has plenty of surface area. It also has an internal battery which lasts about 30 days. You charge it using the lightning cable which is provided (you can use it while charging). It can use either the bluetooth or the lightning cable for connectivity to the Mac. I did find this trackpad to be tad more responsive when connected by a lightning cable. But bluetooth responsiveness is more than adequate. To me, the magic of this trackpad is with the subtleties. It is incredibly responsive to the touch. In fact, you learn to relax your fingers a bit because that seems to work better. Unlike the previous generation, this can also track different pressures you put on. Pinch and zooming, which works on Chrome as well as Safari, is a delightful experience. From my experience, once you get used to this trackpad, the amount of effort to utilize it decreases and it will become second nature and you will wonder how you have ever used your Mac without it. Pros: 1)Large. About the size of a small paperback book. 2)Smooth and highly responsive. 3)Pressure sensitive. Good tactile feel. 4)Beautiful. 5)Long battery life (30 days). 6)Works with both lightning connector or bluetooth. 7)Works with Parallels. I can use it with Windows and Linux which are part of my Parallels virtual machines. Cons: 1)Not cheap. 2)Works only with Mac (as far as I know).

Better Than Trackpad 1, Spend the Extra Money

DON'T BUY THE TRACKPAD 1! Just spend the extra money on this one, you won't be disappointed! This new trackpad has implemented force touch and it's awesome! I have used the Trackpad 1 and the touch is much more sensitive. I use it to edit videos in FCPX and it works way better than using the Mouse 2. Not having to change out batteries is a HUGE plus also. I haven't had to charge it since I purchased it over a month ago. It's at 72% as of writing this. Apple's new line of peripherals are AMAZING and there isn't a reason that anyone wanting bluetooth devices shouldn't get this!

Force touch has been a nice upgrade to my iPhone 6s Plus, but I'm just as excited for the rechargeable battery. Lets be honest, this item is really very overpriced for what it is, but it works exceptionally well and has that amazing apple design we love. its has a bigger surface area than the original, has very satisfying haptic feedback, and peek and pop is a nice new feature. If you have money to spare, replace that battery using trackpad and step your desk game up. If $129 is an issue and you have the original, time to look for another job.

    Excellent Professional Trackpad

Please ignore those handful of complaints out there about the pad being quirky or it needing a different kind of tap. This is a larger pad than you've probably been working with, much lower profile than the last iteration and is totally programmable to suit your style: from speed of clicks, to weight of hand, to hot spots. I use with MacBook Air because typing over the built-in trackpad is more exciting than I can stand (lol). To turn off built-in pad when Magic Pad is on (did someone really get paid to come up with that name?), go into Preferences/Accessibility/Ignore Built-In Trackpad. Easy as pie. For a trackpad user in Photoshop, this is the bomb! Right now I've used it daily for two plus weeks and battery is just down to 98%. I know I know... it's new. Eventually the battery will fink out... but there is ifixit possibilities out there too! This is a well engineered tool, in line with the best of Apple's products. (I don't review their phones after the 6s and I'm just a regular guy who photographs and writes.) Enjoy!

    Better than expected

I was a little skeptical when I first got this since my MacBook Air already has a sizable trackpad. However, I do a lot of image analysis and design for work, so I thought this might be useful. After a couple of weeks, I'm actually very surprised how useful this trackpad has been for my work based on its size and responsiveness. The battery life is solid with mine currently at 64% power after about a month of usage (I use it pretty much every day). I think the major debate to get this trackpad is if you prefer the trackpad over a regular mouse or vice versa. The number of gestures for the trackpad won me over, but the one problem I have with the trackpad is I can't use it for an extended amount of time (3+ hours) because of carpal tunnel. With a mouse, I'm able to rest my wrist and use a shorter range of motion to get my work complete. So to me, it's a trade-off, but I would prefer to use the trackpad given its versatility.

Better than the not so magic mouse

After using the magic mouse for weeks I decided to move to the trackpad. What I liked: I can use it while charging, it is big enough, long battery life, great feeling and very versatile. All the MacOS gestures are there with force touch which it is cool. Construction is solid and pretty minimalistic. What I didn't like at first: Dragging files across windows can be a little awkward at first but I got used to it. It is not precise nor accurate as the mouse, I mean, regular full size mouse. The magic mouse is too small and too flat to be precise using it. Maybe not so portable like the mouse but size it is not an issue at all. Pricey. In terms of capabilities the trackpad offers much more than the mouse, sadly at a high price but still, it is a good product and works flawlessly.

I was not so sure I would like a trackpad as I had used a mouse for the last 30 years. But the Apple Magic Trackpad II started up right away and was really easy to use. I like the big area and the many supported gestures that makes navigating the MacBook Pro really easy. Even my computer-illiterate wife really likes the trackpad. Great job Apple!

Good rechargeable trackpad. It's beautiful and it just works - It's a Mac. This one works like the MacBook trackpad, and it's even bigger - more room for those gestures. It feels like it clicks lighter, too (my MacBook Air trackpad requires more pressure to click). Battery life is good and it charges fast.

I owned the old wireless trackpad that Apple made, and this is a great upgrade. The surface is bigger and the trackpad seems to be more responsive. Supports all the new MacBook trackpad functions. Great that it doesnt require batteries anymore, too. Couldn’t have asked for a better one.

Bought this for a Mac Pro desktop and it adds the force touch feature which I really like. Large pad and charging port is on top which makes it very easy to charge. I bought this trackpad 2 months ago and still on the same charge and I use my desktop daily. Works great, can't complain!
