It's exactly how you think. I still haven't charged it. Apples trackpads are known for their precision and ease of use, this is no exception. It's huge so there's a lot of room to point. Synced and works perfectly with my Mac mini.

My mouse was getting really old and starting to work poorly even with regular cleaning, so I was in the market for a new one. As I am a Mac user, I went to the Apple site to see if they had anything, and I happened upon the Apple Magic Trackpad 2. I frequently have to use a computer at work, so I was also having some repetitive stress issues, and the idea of not having to grip a mouse appealed to me. All the same, I was apprehensive about moving away from a mouse for two reasons: 1) I wasn't sure I could easily perform all the same functions (click and drag, for example) without any buttons; and 2) I was worried the new trackpad might not be compatible with my older iMac (early 2009). Happily, I can report that neither of these things proved to be a problem. The trackpad allows one to perform all the actions you would do with a mouse by letting you press down to simulate a click. Pressing with two fingers is a right-click. Even clicking and dragging is easy to do using two fingers. Additionally, I have had no issues with connectivity with my iMac, and so far the battery seems to have a long life. I have only had to charge it (by connecting it to the computer with a USB cable) about once every two weeks. All in all, it was a great purchase and well worth the price. I have even experienced less discomfort in my wrists. I will most likely buy another trackpad rather than a mouse when this one dies.

I so love it. Plenty of room to use the gestures. No need to move it from it spot. Fell in love with trackpad. A bit pricy but worth it. Love the experience.

I use a number of different computers and interface devices in my work day. Some of those are cumbersome and unreliable. When I come home to my MacBook Pro I have a reliable quality product I can count on. One great add-on is thisTrackPad. It is extremely responsive and has a quality feel. The glass surface is like nothing else I deal with. Battery life is long. Obviously I have this device because I like to spread out. A simple mouse will never again be sufficient for me.

I previously had the older trackpad, this one is definitely better with El Capitan. Current in school and with writing papers it is very useful with the force click feature popping up definitions/thesaurus. Looks super sleek and modern which matches my set up nicely. Lot of surface area and looks great with the new keyboard. I did not think I would like the trackpad better than the Magic Mouse but I find myself barely every using the mouse now. Definitely recommended!

About me: I am an analyst and developer, I use my Macbook Pro 2016 +1 monitor at least 8 hours a day. I got the trackpad because my laptop is docked and its usually my keyboard and mouse. I love the gestures with the touchpad and find the wrist movements with mouse and lifting it constantly strains my wrist. I absolutely love the Trackpad 2. I find I am able to quickly navigate my monitor, use simple gestures for multi-tasking and editing documents. It is perfect for my day to day work . Pros: -I love having a touchpad and its just like having an independent Macbook touchpad. -Has Force Touch and the pad locks when turned off (won't click). -Battery lasts a long time, I charged it almost 2 weeks ago and I am only down to about 78%. Cons -When moving a document between screens I run out of trackpad real estate and it doesn't always allow me to use a second finger to keep guiding it.

This is my second Apple Magic Trackpad. I upgraded from Apple's first model that ran on batteries. The new trackpad has an internal rechargeable battery that only needs recharging (USB cable) every month or so. The new trackpad is larger and incorporates Apple's "touch" technology. It takes some practice to use, but once capable, the feature is truly a plus.

I first have to say that I think the track pad is a little more expensive than it should be. But, it’s an Apple product so you’re going to expect that. Their products are high quality made, so I can grudgingly overlook that. The track pad is quick and simple. If you don’t have a lot of space on your work area, it’s definitely great to have! Or if you find the mouse a pain in the butt, then the simplicity will be nice for you. Personally for me, I have and use both. Each having their own benefits depending on my needs at the time, and they are both Bluetooth so no wires to get in my way.

If you need a trackpad for a mac, this is the best choice. Fit and finish far exceed the other non-Apple products. Responsiveness is exactly what you would expect, and control and settings work well with Mac and Apple's ecosystem. The rechargeable feature is the best improvement over the last trackpad, and having an extra lightning cable is handy too.

Purchased this item to replace my imac’s magic mouse. Nothing wrong with my mouse but I grew tired of changing batteries every so often. Love the fact that it has a rechargeable battery and it has a pretty good life span. When it arrived it had around 80-90% of battery left, connected while in use till full charge and used its for two whole weeks while working over 9+ hours daily without charging it again. It had over 30% when I decided to charge it again. Overall, good response, not intrusive, slick design and very confortable and quick to use. Highly recommend if you are looking to upgrade!

I see lots of complaints about the trackpad but I just can't understand why some people don't like it. I mean it's got a great look and feel and it gives you force touch. I love being able to press down just a bit over a link to see a preview without opening it. The new Trackpad is great and well worth the money.

My old trackpad died and I thought I would simply buy another. I did not know that a whole new model was available! The surface area is MUCH LARGER and it no longer requires 2 AA Batteries! Now it powers via lightning cable! One charge lasts for weeks and weeks and I use my pad 40+hrs / week! But This Product!

This trackpad is sleek, aesthetic and enjoyable to use. The older version was great, and I never really felt it was a bother to replace the batteries, until I experienced a rechargeable trackpad. It's super convenient, and the charge lasts a good long time. I love this mouse!

I'm stoked that this new trackpad is rechargeable. i went through 2 of the first track pads because i don't use it as much and the batteries would corrode. paired with a mac that had el capitan installed this trackpad will deliver the experience and ease of using a macbook on a desktop.

I have been putting off buying the Trackpad 2 since it came out. I decided to take the plunge and spend the $129...and I am very happy I did. The trackpad is incredibly easy to use, but the big thing is it has so many gestures you can use. I have been using the Magic Mouse 2, which is a great product, but to have the ability to use gestures is a real time saver. After 2 days of heavy use, I wish I had purchased this sooner. It was still a hard $129 pill to swallow, wish the price was lower, but this was a solid buy. If you use multiple monitors, it is extremly helpful when covering that much "real estate". My hand no longer keeps hitting the top of my keyboard tray because my hand rests nicely on my mouse pad wrist rest and my fingers can do all the work. This is very easy on the wrists, especially if you have issues there. Would have given 5 stars if price was under $100.

This is quite pricey for a mouse. However, if you have a Mac Mini, Mac Pro, iMac, or iMac Pro; this is a must have. Why? Because all the gestures you can’t do with regular mouse. This is just exactly like trackpad on MacBook Pro but bigger. I bought this open box, but still pay more than $100. If someone ask me if I recommend this product, it would be a yes and a no. Yes if you use it for Apple products. No if you use it for non-Apple product. This trackpad is not worth the money for any non-MacOS devices. It’s not comfortable like Logitech gaming mouses, but it’s the general issue of all trackpad/touchpad type of mouses. But as a 9 years MacBook user, I’m so used to it. I even feel I complete tasks much faster than using my Logitech pro mouse. Just minus a star off because of its price, no complaints about performance.

Love the force touch over the previous model's click. It's a natural evolution. The design is nice. Unlike the previous model that only clicked at the bottom, this can be clicked anywhere (not really a click, but it feels like a click) and is force touch, so you get two stages of clickiness in apps that support it. The battery life is fine. It seems longer than the rechargeable batteries of the MT1. All-in-all I'd highly recommend it, especially if you use a mac. Just keep in mind it requires Bluetooth 4, so older machines might not be able to use it.

So I bought this to pair with my 2012 mac mini that was running yosemite. I like the way I had everything configured and just thought i could pair the trackpad. You are unable to configure the settings without upgrading. Thats why it is 4 stars instead of 5. Other than that its great. I have had it for almost a month and have yet to charge it. Sensitivity is perfect and the extra size increase is a bonus. The glass lole top is so smooth i would gladly buy again.

Bought the new Magic Track Pad 2 for the new iMac. Love that it charges so no need for the AA batteries, love the larger surface area. The only thing I don't like about it is it doesn't click down as easy as the old Apple track pad. You can really feel the "click" when you push down on it, new one doesn't quite feel like a click, but I may just need to get used to it. Worth buying and using with new iMac, but I did find out the old pad works also.
