The Mini DisplayPort plug will fit in your Thunderbolt 2 ports and function appropriately. I have a new MacBook Pro with Thunderbolt, and it was hard for me to find this information explicitly stated (and the dude at Best Buy wasn't sure) so until I tried it, I wasn't sure it would work.

Upon my decision to break free from the Microsoft world, I decided that I would be using my old 1366x768 VGA monitor for my new Mac Mini. I was a little hesitant on purchasing an expensive premium adapter such as this. I know I've had had problems in the past with 3rd party adapters from various manufactures for multiple devices. I didn't want to risk anything and shoved out the few extra dollars for the Apple brand converter. Make sure you purchase the Mini-Display Port to VGA. DO NOT purchase a Mini-DVI to VGA adapter/converter (error in my review history). Set-up was very simple. I unboxed the adapter from the box, screwed my VGA cable from my monitor into the adaptor, plug the smaller end of the adapter into my Mac Mini, and hit the power button on the back side of my Mac Mini. I was up and running in within a few minutes. The adapter cable can be on the shorter end for a larger desk. But no complaints. The adapter displays a clear image upon my 1366x768 VGA monitor. No shadows or interference from my day to day use. All Apple products are high quality even down to basic adapters. I'm sure this adapter will last me for years to come. (Sorry i got Mini-DVI and Mini-Display Port mixed up in my review history. Honest mistake.)

I am a teacher and am constantly using my computer with a projector via a smartboard. The first adapter I bought with the macbook pro was faulty and wouldn't recognize the display. Once I returned it and checked the new one, it operated seamlessly! I use it all the time!

Added a second flat panel to extend my 21.5" iMac. I have WIN7 running off of BootCamp, luckily the Windows OS talks to the MiniDisplay Port hardware. Extended display works perfectly in OSX and WIN7. Glad I spent the extra skrilla on the Apple adapter the first time instead of dealing with the headaches of the other brands as many other reviewers have stated.

This adapter helped me to connect my Mac mini to my monitor. I looked on many website before I decided to try Best Buy. And, boy I am glad I did!! I had no problem hooking this adapter to my monitor because of the clear and conise instructions I was abloe to get my computer up and running in no time!!

Works great with my MacBook Pro. I don't see any noticeable drop in quality when using it. The cable is a bit thicker than most of my other cables so it sacrifices a bit of flexibility but adds to the durability of the cable which, in my opinion, is a good trade off.

Very dependable and worth the extra few dollars to have the Apple brand.

Got this for my wife to connect her Macbook Pro to a monitor with VGA input. Also works great with any device with a mini Display port input (my Surface 3). I imagine this has the best cross-compatibility between Apple and PC devices

It does what it's supposed to do. As with all Apple products - expensive, but if you can get it on sale or in combination with a certificate, it isn't too bad.

I mainly use this to connect my projectors so its very easy. I love the product

This cord will work fine for plugging your macbook into a VGA monitor. The installation is only seconds, with the other screen automatically being added, no screwing around. It is really pricy for a single cord, but when I pay so much for a Mac, I might as well buy the best for it. Yes, you can probably find a cheaper one online elsewhere with transmission issues and a loose end, but this will be the best. In the long run, you'll be happy you bought it.

I've used it a couple of times to connect to an LCD projector. Worked like a charm

Needed this adaptor for a Celebration of Life and it worked like a charm. We needed it to connect an Apple laptop to a projector at the banquet hall.

I usually use 2 monitors for the work I do. This adapter allowed me to not only keep my Mac but be able to have two screens to work on.

This is a small, portable and easy to plug in device to connect my MacBook Pro to a monitor or projector. Can't do it without it!

Left my dongle hooked up to my TV at home when I left for a business trip. So I had to swing by BestBuy and pick on up! I had never purchased a "stand alone" dongle, so I was unaware of how much it was going to cost me. I think it was only like $25; I was pleasantly surprised! I had originally decided to use it for the presentation and return it afterward since I had one at home...but for only $25...I decided to keep it and have two: one for my TV/entertainment system and one for Business trips/presentations.
