In my opinion, it is a necessity as the power cord that comes with it now is way too short as I want to be able to use my laptop everywhere and a lot of the time the power is too far away.

Buy it if you hate wall wart plugs

They look nice but bulk and weight means they don’t fit everywhere. This cable fixes the problem and works everywhere. Probably overpriced (blame Apple) but I am reluctant to buy a no name brand at risk of frying my MacBook.
