Works great right out of the box. Simple to use however because of its simplicity it seems to operate in slow mode.

I had to replace my original remote, since I lost it. This one sync'd right away and allowed me to change my settings (since I changed wifi services, I could no longer control it through the remote app). So basically had to spend $20 to use it for 5 minutes...but worth it since everything works now!

great item. good price. very durable. uses front-row software that is built in to you mac and makes it work just like the ipod interface.

Though I still use a universal remote, this remote is great to have around and is simple to use, especially for kids. My only problem is that my toddler loses it in the couch and then threw it in the trash...

Nice simple remote with only one caveat: This remote needs a dock to work with iOS devices like iPad/iPhone/iPod. It does not work alone with these devices as it seems to imply it does. It was only once I got it home and got into the fine print (after trying unsuccessfully to pair with my iPad) that you find out the universal dock is required. Too bad...i would have really liked to use just my iPad, my Jawbone Jambox and the remote together on the go. I returned it, but ended up with another when I purchased my Apple TV. With that, it works rather well.

I spoke with a rep and asked for a presentation mouse. He showed me this one. I told him that I was pretty sure that it was just a remote for "Air Play" and media...but he assured me that it could be used for presentations and mouse control. It can't! The product was great for what it was...but it wasn't what I was looking for so I returned it!

kids lost first remote needed a new remote. put in safe place. apple products are the best

Had to buy another remote for my Apple TV. The original stopped working (think I spilled some water on it). I was led to believe that you just point and shoot, and the thing would work. Not happening. Spent 40 minutes trying to get that thing to work. Didn't help that instructions were in the squint range. And, all it said was to hold the thing ~3 inches from the device and hold down the right and menu keys for 6 sec. Then a logo would appear on the screen indicating it was paired. That didn't work. Had to go on line. I could't unpair it (that was what I was led to believe seemingly incorrectly) as the old remote was broken. I come to find out after much searching through those wonderful helplines, that to unpair it (I had tried unplugging it as per a previous suggestion), all I had to do was hold the LEFT key and menu for 6 sec. And then I held down the right and menu keys (don't know if this was required). And, lo and behold, success. Was ready to throw the thing out my 3rd story window. Anything, sorry for the harangue. Apple has to do a better job of writing coherent, inclusive, and readable instructions.

Love it, I like being able to control my iMac without having to be at my desk.

I have an extra remotes in other rooms to crank up my music. Luv it!

simplest remote ever, could not be any simpeler to use or learn

Overall I am quite satisfied with this product. It is not perfect but it serves it's purpose.

This remote may look pretty but functions terribly. You have to concentrate to hit the right selection with the direction pad as it alternates between sensitive and unresponsive. This is my third Apple remote. Apple kindly replaced the first one because my AppleTV 2 was still under warranty. The funny thing about this remote is that it doesn't have enough buttons to function well in practice. You can pair a different remote with the AppleTV, if you happen to own one of those, but you need this remote if you need to do a -gasp- jailbreak of the AppleTV. When the remote failed, I checked to see if the battery was dead, of course. I whipped out the multimeter and it was still at 3 volts. At least it has power efficiency. I doubt the battery will die before the remote itself. The IR sensor was broken. You can check to see if yours is working by pointing it into a digital camera or a camera for a computer. If you can see it blinking in the camera display, the remote is working. I have a cat and perhaps that is the problem. He knocks things off the kitchen counter onto the tile floor. Funny, though, my other television remote which is plastic, and I suppose not elegant enough for Apple standards, has stood up to this punishment without fail multiple times. There is simply no way I'd buy this remote if I weren't forced to. If you are considering getting one for your Macintosh, I strongly suggest you look into other options if you have any at all. Perhaps you could clone a friend's remote into a Logitech Harmony or some other universal remote. But if you really have to have the so-called gorgeous, minimalist, seven button (what a joke), barely adequate remote from Apple, by all means purchase this one.

Bought nre Apple TV remote because the original was sluggish and you would have to push hard on buttons to go back a menu and the arrow was almost impossible to get to work. Had credit at Best Buy so bought new remote and find it just as bad. When I have time I am going to apple store to complain and have them get me one that works right an the money back I paid at Best Buy. If you don,t have apple computer or other apple devices go with other brands to get your TV on the Internet, like Netfix-even the Best Buy Dynex Blue Ray player with wi-fi has a better connectin with Netlix then the apple TV and is half the price.
