It has a magnetic mount to the iPad, when you close the iPad it locks the iPad automatically, great feature. The only beef I have is that most cases don’t account for the way the smart cover mounts and you cannot use both at the same time. I got the logitech shell with keyboard and bought this one and stopped using the keyboard shell. I got an external keyboard because I like the Smart Cover but carrying additional items around is a pain.
