Bought this to use with my new iMac which has no internal CD player. It works well and was easy to figure out. I don't know if this would work with a Windows computer. I have not tried it with a DVD, as I use it primarily for CD's.

I like it a lot because it is super easy to use. You can rely on and by its design you can tell its an Apple product. It is however a little expensive for what it is.

I just picked this up for my new MacBook 14”. My 2012 MacBook was one of the last with an optical drive- which I always thought I just had to have. This works great and is out of the way until I need it- which is only once every month or so. I’m not really missing an optical drive in this new MacBook. I did a test run and it’s as fast as the internal that still runs. I got it open box which was an even better deal. My only wish is that it was USB-C. I’m not a fan of adapters, but it seems to function fine with it.

i was not sure Which Dvd/Cd player I should get to coordinate with my Apple Mac, But I went with the obvious, as it is a sleek and fast External Drive. Everything you need to make it work is in the Box. It's great for Laptops or Desktops that do not have a DVD/CD player. I am very happy with it.

OCDers that need to match the silver of their MacBooks or Minis will like this. Not the fastest, cheapest, nor has Blu-Ray capabilities, but if all you need is reading and writing CDs, SL & DL DVDs (does anyone store anything on disc anymore), then this is a sure bet. Sure you can get an Asus or LG for about half the price but they aren't as sleek and unobtrusive...and won't match colors! ;)

This CD/RW is fast, and easy to use. Looks great too. Sleek design.

I initially went into Bestbuy and a employee told me to by another brand cause it'll do the same thing it's just cheaper....brought that one home and of course I had a feeling, it didn't work with my computer. Went back and bought this and went home, opened the box, no silly instructions, plugged it in and worked great. No issues with it....it's small and sleek. Love it.

Compact and works like a charm. I had loads of CD's I wanted to get into my iTunes library and this little reader made quick work of it. Once in the library, I burned several of my favorite play lists to use in the cars and disc players. Takes up little space, does it all, what more could you ask for! Another great Apple product, highly recommended!

It's small, simple, fast and quite. Good idea keeping it detached!

So far the product works great and have had no issues. The downfall for consumers is the fact that Apple just wants to make more money by requiring Apple computer purchasers to have to buy one of these instead of having it be a part of the computer like they used to for years.

This is an axcellent product. It runs like no other drive, it is one of a kind. The only thing is the price! I could get a superb samsung blu ray optical drive on amazon for the same price, and this has no blu ray player. Just go with a $40 LG if you don't use drive much. This is overpiced, but great over all. If you are going to get it, buy it used on amazon or ebay for 50 bucks or so.

I have a Mac Mini from a few years ago and the optical drive finally gave up the ghost. I ripped my entire CD collection (3,200) to a Buffalo NAS drive to use with my Sonos system. The new drive is really compact and fast. I'm adding a new 27" iMac 5K Retina display for photography editing and I can use it with this new computer. Very convenient!!!

Super easy to connect & use! It's fast & small. It doesn't take up space!

Works great with my macbook pro. I still miss having an optical drive in my laptop. Itunes doesn’t compare to collecting cds. No setup required. Plug it in and you are ready to go (after buying an apple usb adapter of course. You gotta love those apple add-ons now).

Though it is an external add-on,it is so small that it does not take up any extra room, I just placed it under the screen and it is ready and out of the way. Only connected it to a usb port and I'm done. Very easy to use,works just like a cd player in your car. Very pleased with my purchase.

Since newer Macs are sold without this feature I have been sorely missing it! Tried to use newer features to compensate but just not the same. This is a great add on for your Mac purchase plus it's very small, thin and light weight making it perfect for mobility. High quality and very stable just like all Apple products. You will not be disappointed!

i bought this after reading reviews, and here I am giving one. I've played music CD's to download to my laptop (MBP2017) and watched 1 movie. The Apple Super Drive seemed to do its job. Of course, you'll need an adapter to connect. I used the Apple - USB-C-to-USB Adapter which i will give a review next. i do recommend this device!
