Works great and has a sleek design....just disappointed that Apple felt the need to do away with this for those of us who still need it for the applications we use. Other super drives may be less expensive but I prefer to stick with the Apple products.

Our new iMac does not have a DVD/CD port, and this external disc drive is perfect for our needs. Also, it's very, very quiet. We "plug" it in whenever we need it, and it's done exactly what we bought it for; easy to use and easy to put away.

Product worked really well. Was able to use my dvds and cds, as I don’t have a cd or dvd player. A little pricy, but it worked well on my laptop and desktop.

Obviously many people don’t really need or use disc drives anymore but it was a necessity for work. I like that I knew I wouldn’t have any compatibility issues since it’s made by Apple but I do worry at times that a disc could get stuck since there’s no eject button.

Purchased because I had a few CDs to import into my iTunes (my new MacBook Pro Retina 13" doesn't have an optical drive). This one connects easily and transferred the songs very quickly.

We bought the Apple SuperDrive in order to play DVD's on the computer. Even though the drive is more expensive than others, we went with the apple because it blends in with the iMac base. So far it works great.

I bought this external lg dvd writer to replace the broken one in my desk top p.c. I was amazed how easy it was to install and how it provided all that I needed.the sales person was very tech savy and assured me that it would be compatable . just run the software and plug in by usb .thank's again bestbuy

I was initially disappointed that I had to purchase a separate CD/DVD burner if I wanted one because it no long was built into the computer. But now see this as a great thing! If it every fails, its not a computer repair, just purchase another and plug it in. Also you can add on as many as you may need! Great idea!!

I bought a cd drive for my mac because it did not come with that drive installed. I was a little worried about buying the drive because I did not know how I was going to like it. I prefer to buy CD's rather than buy things off iTunes so I needed the drive. The first one I bought had an issue that it was not reading the discs correctly and when I called applecare they were really nice and helped me through troubleshooting the issue. It was decided that the issue was with the drive itself and I should take it back to best buy and exchange it for another one. I did so and I have not had a single issue since. One thing that I have grown to love about the drive is that i can unplug it and store it when I am not using it. It does not take up any unnecessary space on my desk either.

I'm new to this product and having no experience, I still found it easy it easy to use and works great but I wish fit had a eject button on the device rather than accessing the eject feature through the device its connect to and must be powered on.

While I wish Apple had chosen to support Blu-Ray with their standalone SuperDrive, I understand why they didn't. This does everything it says it will, and looks pretty slick on my desk to boot. My only complaint is that the cord is too short to reach my USB port. I have a powered USB hub, and I had assumed it would work fine with that, especially since it has it's own separate power source. However, when I plug it into the hub it tells me it doesn't have enough power and must be plugged into the computer directly. That's really frustrating and ridiculous. So I had to purchase a USB extension cable to reach my MacBook Pro. And since I think the SuperDrive is already overpriced for no Blu-Ray support, and additional expense is simply aggravating. I'm giving this 4 stars still because it does function as the description reads.

I was a little leary about purchasing a laptop that cost close to $1500 without the DVD player incorporated in the device. But the portable drive works fine to watch DVDs; quick and responsive and very stable. With all of the streaming available, having the portable drive is fine.

The super drive is a little more costly than some double layer DVD RW / CD RW drives but you get what you pay for. The drive is quiet, well built, and sturdy. The drive is easy to transport, and interfaces flawlessly with my MacBook Pro.

Nice small and compact CD drive. Put mine on the monitor base which makes it easy to get at. The easy insert of CD's without a drawer is a nice design. It even matches the aluminum finish of the monitor and stand.

I used the Super Drive to burn 100+ DVDs for a class reunion. It was fast and very easy to use. It also plays a video/DVD back enabling me to watch on my Mac which has no disc drawer. to watch on my Mac which has no disc tray.

SuperDrive is a quick way to enjoy the old media of our previous times. It works swiftly and plays nicely with Apple products, and is a reliably-made product.

I hate that Mac has gotten rid of the laptop disk drive but that is the price we pay for a thinner and lighter product. This external dive is a great product for those of us( stuck in the past) who still want to watch a DVD or burn CDs. It is easy to use and compact.

I purchased this Apple SuperDrive for my MacBook Pro. It was a perfect choice for my varied needs. The drive is small and easy to carry with my computer. I appreciate the convenience of the built-in cord. The silver color perfectly matches my silver MacBook Pro. I highly recommend this item.

New MacBooks do not come with a CD/DVD drive, but still get the external just in case. I got it and ended up putting all of my old CD's on iTunes. Now enjoying music that I haven't listened and to in years.

My daughter and I have MacBook Air laptops and have been looking at external hard drives since we purchased our computers earlier this year. We were thrilled to see this on sale. It is compact in size and easy to use. We've used it with music and movies without a problem. Love it!
