Should have gotten this first!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I went cheap at first with a Samsung DVD burner for burning DVDs with my new Retina iMac. Only was able to burn a couple of DVDs (not without problems even for those) before it completely stopped working! Decided to spend the extra bucks for the Apple SuperDrive and now burning DVDs without any problems so far! Leasson learned!

I’ve seen mixed reviews, but works great

I did not experience that with this item. It’s a little weird that yoto cannot eject the disc from the actual drive, you have to eject using the Mac, but otherwise m, I’m happy with the product.

The USB cord is permanently attached to the drive and is a little short in my opinion. The cord is perfect if your using it connected to a computer or laptop on the same surface. If you're intending on using this drive for a computer mounted on the floor or other location away from the work space, you will need a hub and longer USB cord. It could be faster as expected these days from Apple, but it works where a MacBook doesn't have a drive.

USB-Type C needed for new Macs
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.So, the drive itself is good. It does exactly what you want it to do. Here's the issue: It comes with a regular USB connection. However, newer MacBooks only have Type-C ports. If you have all Type-C ports, then you need to buy the USB to USB-C adapter, and it needs to be the Apple version or it may not power this DVD drive. Apple...seriously...you only put USB-C ports on the new Macs, and sell a drive that doesn't come with a USB-C connection? For $80 it should come with the $20 adapter, or just have the USB-C connection on it to begin with.
