Well Made DVD Portable Drive
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This was a necessary peripheral purchase when I purchased my new Macbook Pro which has no disc drive. This drive gets moderate use, functioning mainly to import CDs into iTunes, burn DVDs, and create the occasional backup. It's also convenient to have on hand for those rare occasions when I need to install some software from a disc. Completely simple installation as usual from Apple, unwrap, plug in the USB cable, that's it. The cable is quite short: for my Macbook Pro setup it's fine.

I love that my new MacBook Pro weighs just a few ounces more than a MacBook Air, while being a much more capable computer, but I miss my optical drive. This one does the job, but having to use an external drive isn't terribly convenient. Of course, that's not the drive's fault...it works just as it should.

Good for what it is

We get home and it only plays DVDs, which sucks since most of mine & my husband's movie collection consists of Blue-rays. It works great and plays all my DVDs though, even the ones that are a little scratched or burned DVDs. i just wish the guy selling it to me knew more about the product.

The device works wonderfully. The drive may also be used to play DVDs. Rarely, it seems, there is much other use for drive units as most instructions or software upgrades can be downloaded from the web.
