It should be internal with the new MacBook Pro M2 chip. Another thing, it should come with the converter cable or have a male plug compatible with the new Macs.

I purchased this drive mostly to copy music from CDs to the laptop and to ultimately transfer the music to an iPod. The device works wonderfully. The drive may also be used to play DVDs. Rarely, it seems, there is much other use for drive units as most instructions or software upgrades can be downloaded from the web.

I was told by the guy at Best Buy and my husband that this played DVD AND Blue-rays. We get home and it only plays DVDs, which sucks since most of mine & my husband's movie collection consists of Blue-rays. It works great and plays all my DVDs though, even the ones that are a little scratched or burned DVDs. i just wish the guy selling it to me knew more about the product.

This works as intended. very easy to use and feel I definitely made the right choice.

I love it. I can use it for transfer of files from my iphone to the computer and vice versa. Love it!!!

So, the drive itself is good. It does exactly what you want it to do. Here's the issue: It comes with a regular USB connection. However, newer MacBooks only have Type-C ports. If you have all Type-C ports, then you need to buy the USB to USB-C adapter, and it needs to be the Apple version or it may not power this DVD drive. Apple...seriously...you only put USB-C ports on the new Macs, and sell a drive that doesn't come with a USB-C connection? For $80 it should come with the $20 adapter, or just have the USB-C connection on it to begin with.

It is a great peripheral but very expensive. I guess that's what I get for getting the MacBook Air instead of the Pro

Since my new Mac mini lacks an internal CD/DVD drive, this was necessary so that I could load my music CDs into my iTunes account.

It works the way its supposed to. It has no flaws.

I have a mac air so it does not come with a CD so i had to buy this. I like this product because it is easy to use.

Apples exterior disc drive was a no brainer to attach and use. The only thing I wish is that the cord was longer.

Love the simple plug and play. No buttons, lights, or any software required, just works. Using this with my 2019 15” MacBook Pro running macOS Mojave and it works great. Note: I tried using my usb c hub with this SuperDrive and it didn’t work. You have to use a passive usb c adapter, not a hub. With that small catch, I’d still recommend it. I cloned some disks with it using disk utility and it worked perfectly.

This will only work with other apple products/PC’s. Looks great, works great, not cheaply made like our last one. But our last one was generic and we could use it with any of our PC’s this one you can only use with your Apple PC’s.

I bought the first one at the same time I purchased my computer. I didn't try it out for several days and when I did you could hear that it was trying to read the disc but had no success. I took it back and the clerk said he never knew of one not working. He gave me a new one and it has worked everytime. No complaints.
