Ability to connect right to USB is easy. Ejecting is as simple as ejecting from Macbook desktop, with newer Macbook Air there is no keyboard eject key. No issues with disc insertion. Definitely easy to use and not have weight on your Macbook. This external accessory is much more user friendly.

Read the box.. Its only for machine which did not originally come with a DVD drive. I took mine out and replaced it with a SSD drive. Then decided while on the road to purchase an external to use from time to time. Not happening.. so if you took your original out and need a replacement, get the LG.

Once I figured out that I had connected it upside down, it was simple to use. Upside down, the DVD/CD kept ejecting.

After doing research for an optical drive for my iMac I decided to go with the SuperDrive. At first i did not want to go with this optical drive i was looking at cheaper drives but after reading all the reviews and knowing the reliability of Apple products is what sold me on the more expensive drive.

Great DVD/CD Writer/Player for MacBook Pro. Enjoy using for making own DVDs or CDs along with using to watch movies or listen to music.

I have not used it enough to really know if I like it. I recently purchased a new IMac and it did not have one built in anymore, which I think it should be, so in order to upload my CDs I had to purchase this at an additional cost of $80.00. I have used the product twice and it works fine.

The product looks nice, but does not have an eject button.

Much better than having an inboard drive. Saves space

This is a great addition to my MacBook Air. When you need a DVD Writer this works well. The power cord is a little short, but that is just a little issue. It fits well in my Case and adds very little weight to carry around. Overall, I like it, has a great look and defiantly looks like an apple product.

It goes with the look of the desk top, more expensive than it has to be. It works like I expected ...

This CD drive has a very sleek design and thin enough to pack up for travel.

Glad I got the Apple brand for an external disk drive.I had to spend a little more, but I feel comfortable knowing I can count on Apple for excellent support of their products, since I've been using them for close to 30 years.

I gave this 4 stars primarily because of an issue with Apple and the fact that they can't resolve it. The drive works well but will not work without rebooting the machine. It is supposed to be hot swappable but no go for me. Have talked to Apple 3 times at length and finally was told the issue was unusual and they would have thier programmers get back to me...... 2 months ago. no response on emails or any kind of update. bummer.

I purchased my iMac and needed a external disc drive. This was a great accessory to have for my iMac.

I wasn't. sure this item would be what I needed, but after my purchase and the plug/play feature of the device I was excited. The Apple USB SuperDrive has been great. I'm new with Apple products and was very happy I was able to purchase this additional piece of equipment.

We needed to transport music from CDs to our MacBook Air. This reasonably-priced (?) Apple product did the trick.

As an Apple product, this drive is pretty stellar. The only thing keeping me from giving it a full 5 stars is the fact that it doesn't work with older Macs nor does it work with any Mac that has an optical drive on it already. While I use mine for a new MBP, i was hoping to use it with my older iMac that has a bad SuperDrive. Also, I wish the USB cable was a little longer just so I could place it out of the way.
