I bought this for my husband for Christmas and he loves it. He uses it to import music- it's front load style makes it easy. It's very sturdy and has the look and feel of a quality apple product!!

Apple should never have removed the cd drive from their IMAC. Thankfully I can have this drive with a USB connection.

As the title of my review would imply, this drive is just fine for late model MAC computers. I won't know how this will perform until I own a newer MAC though as I had purchased this for my 8-year old iMAC which I found out after my purchase is incompatible with this external drive. Needless to say neither the folks at the store or myself had no idea until I brought this home and found out the hard way. My suggestion would be to research this first before you buy this to see if your computer is compatible. I decided to hold onto the Superdrive I purchased for when I upgrade to a newer MAC in the near future. One would have imagined that with a name like "Superdrive" you could leap tall buildings in a single bound or at least be compatible with any MAC computer even if it's a little older. Nah, guess not. They should have called this the Millennial Drive instead...

A little annoying I had to purchase this separate and in addition to my new iMac, but it's worked seamlessly so far including several home videos burned to DVD.

The sales person a best buy suggested I get a cheeper brand, glad I didn't, besides I had rewards points, only paid $40.00 + tax I may as well have gotten the apple brand since I have a apple pc

I still rely on disks and I prefer an onboard drive.

I recently purchased a new MacBook Pro, and unfortunately it did not come standard with a CD/DVD drive. However, the price was worth the additional purchase.
