It is a good unit, stable and reliable but a little slow. I may be spoiled by the speed of the usb 3 memory sticks and I haven't used a dvd written in so long that I'm just under-rating this because it did do a good job when I used it but Apple was right, it's really not needed.

Now that the new macs are not being manufactured with a CD Drive it becomes necessary sometimes to have one. This drive is a great value for the price and it's there when you need it.

This was definitely a great buy. Since my laptop doesn't have a place for CDs/DVDs, this is a great alternative, especially for the price. I've had no issues with it so far.

I felt I needed this since my MacBook Air doesn't have a DVD/CD drive in it. And I have DVD's and CD's I want to put on to my Mac. Plus I can also put my pics and some other data on to a CD or DVD now, which I like to do.

I wish this device was built into the computer but that is a design issue. The product works great for people looking at something to buy.

A nice extra to allow you to play DVDs/CDs through the included cord which connects to your Macbook Air. The drive is quiet and seems very sturdy, which is nice for traveling purposes.

Turned into an Apple device family a few years ago. Just got my first desktop with this and am very happy with all my Apple products!!!!! Definitely no turning back now!

Good product but please note that you cannot connect this to HyperDrive - USB Type-C Hub. You must use a standard USB-C.

I needed an external drive cd drive for my imac. So far it is working great, no problems with the installation. Decided to go with apple because best buy had it on sale.

Thought all was lost when I realized I had no disc drive in my new computer. The Apple lady showed me the drive and now I'm all set.

If you need an external DVD drive for your Apple computer, look no further. Its small, thin, easy to use, easy to store, everything!

There are a LOT of drives out there, many don't have all the features this one has, and even if they do, and are cheaper, THIS is the dependable one

It's a disc drive, what else can you say about a disc drive? It works like a disc drive. My internal disc drive was not working correctly. The new e ternary disc drive fills the bill.

My old iMac had the drive within it and my new one does not. Therefore I bought this for those occasional times when I might want that capability.

Excellent addition to my iMAC. I would only suggest an indicator light letting me know that the drive is engaged in operations.

I have been using the superdrive for about 1 month. Ive had no issues with it so far. I use my computer on a daily basis. I have always used a PC prior to my mac and I love it.

I thought I would need this item but in this new age it's better without it. Why the iMac is disk drive less baffles me! it's ok for those who still rents/buys DVDs/Blu rays and CDs:

This was a necessary upgrade to my computer. Now I can use different types of media on my apple computer. It also allows me to add music from my CD's to my iTunes account.

The Mac does not have an internal CD drive, so I had to purchase this I did not like to pay more, given the price of a Mac, but I am glad I did so now I can play CD's.

I had a friend buy this product used and worst mistake. Best Buy gave me a great deal with this over having to go the cheep route and was worth knowing it would work reading disc.
