    I was very disappointed Apple discontinued cd drives in iMac computers and had to buy this add on one. It works.

    The Super Drive 8x works fine. I bought this to replace one that had a disc stuck in it. But with my new Apple laptop, it won't work.

    Although it is loose, I have found a spot for this external drive in my shoulder bag. It is easy to use and my MacBook pro easily recognizes the super drive.

    New laptops are so small that they no longer contain a disc drive. I still use them to occasionally transfer info or burn music discs. Still a must have!

    It's too bad the Mac Book Pro's don't have a DVD player, but this player serves it's purpose. but the USB cable should be longer so that the DVD player can be placed in different locations. with as short as it is it placement can only be on the left side of the computer.

    My mac did not have an optic drive and this SuperDrive works great. Costs more than other ones but definitely worth it.

    Let's be honest, some companies still require use of a CD/DVD to download or update programs. I don't need to carry the drive with me, but I have it when I need it.
