    We bought this because as we're all alway optical drives are a thing of the past for most laptops. We bought because the fiance is in college and so every now and then there are CDs she need to plug in. Nothing spectacular but nice to have on hand.

    The Apple external drive works as expected, however, keep in mind that you may need a USB C adapter if using a Mac.
