    Mac Computer can play old DVD movie with line 21 closed caption. Blu-ray player wont play any movie with regular closed caption (line 21).

    does require a powered USB port and well worth the $69.99 as replacement for my 27" iMac original drive that died after 5 years.

    apple mac pro doesn't come with anything so the last thing on the list was an optical drive . For an apple product the price is fair.

    I was surprised that this drive does not even support Blu Ray. Apple may focus on design, but they are feature poor with this device. In addition to its lack of function, it is priced high.

    I bought this because I was having issues with my MacBook Pro CD Drive. I didn't realize that it wasn't compatible with the 2013 model. It's alright though. I will be getting a new MacBook soon so I can use it then.

    Computer does not come with optical drive. To reload all my DVDs, I needed an external one. Apple computers work better with Apple accessories.

    Overall happy with this external drive. However I think Apple skimped on the design. Yes, it matches my Apple all in one however, there are no buttons or lights to indicate anything (on/off, eject). Aside from that one thing... works well.

    This comes in handy for all the photos we have saved on cd's. Computers now a days don't have a disk drive.
