    Though the new Mac Book doesn't come with a CDRW/DVDRW, the need for one still is required. This is a great drive to meet that need.

    Had to buy since new Macs don't come with a disc drive. I guess with all the dependence on immediate downloads and cloud access for programs, the disc drive has become, if not obsolete, a bit 'old school'. Ok, maybe not everyone needs one but, does it really cost that much to add it on to the unit or do you really need to charge this much for the add-on? Such is life sometimes, I guess.

    Computer does not come with optical drive. To reload all my DVDs, I needed an external one. Apple computers work better with Apple accessories.

    My old iMac had a built-in disc drive, but my new one requires a separate one. It's the trade-off for a thinner machine.

    When I first plugged it in, my iMac didn't recognize it. I tried a few different cords then restarted my iMac and it's worked great since.

    I bought this product to go along with my new Mac computer as it does not have a slot for DVDs but have not had the opportunity to use it yet so undecided as to rating

    Operation and quality of sound and video is up to the standard expected of a Apple/Mac product. Only 4 stars because I prefer a tray loading type of DVD drive.
