Burns great and no setup required
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The Apple - SuperDrive 8x External USB Double-Layer DVD RW/CD-RW Drive is very handy and worth the premium price as with all Apple products soley because of the ease of use and user friendly software...USB cable is simply plug and go which is nice compared to the cumbersome bs required with any other branded burner...not to mention the support for double-layer media disks which are handy for large GB storage such as HD video or backups...highly recommend...

Great external hard drive.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.We initially purchased the Mac external hard drive in order to allow us to access files stored on cd's. This was necessary since some of the cd's were corrupt and we did not want them to freeze up our Mac minis while working on them. The Mac external hard drive was a perfect choice for the purposes of what we intended and it takes up so little space you can place it anywhere.

Fixed problem

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this CD drive because my previous one (a name brand model that was supposed to be compatible with Mac) would not consistently burn CD's to my Macbook pro. I was getting the error message 'required file cannot be found'. The new Apple ext drive works flawlessly. I recommend buying this product over any other if you use a Mac.

This drive works perfectly, and as intended. The only caveat is that it does not work with Non-Retina and Non-Air MacBooks. It's made solely for MacBooks that doe not include an optical drive. If you own a MacBook Air, or Retina Pro buy it. If not, skip it.
