Awkward to have external
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.It does the job of reading and playing both CD's and DVD's and MP3's But Again WISH MAC would have left the disk drive for DVD and MP3 on the MAC Pro itself. Without them it is very inconvenient to have to A) spend more money, B) keep track of little add on's, C) Keeping everything plugged in and stable to be able to use, that is now hanging by wires off of the MAC. Very inefficient and awkward. Would only recommend if you are unable to get MAC without disk drive.

Terrible design error.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This was purchased with a MacBook Pro for our daughter since the newest laptops no longer have a built in drive and she still wants to be able to play CDs and DVDs. What Apple fails to make clear is that this drive is NOT compatible with the new MacBooks and no one selling them seems to be aware of this sad fact. We had to spend time with geek squad to troubleshoot. We returned it and bought an LG brand drive that worked perfectly at half the price. I gave this 2 stars even though for me personally, it gets only 1 because if there actually is an Apple product that it is compatible with this drive, it probably works great.
