    This external DVD/CD drive is another reliable Apple product. It has a sturdy outter case, not a cheap plastic housing to protect the main optical parts.

    This was purchased with a MacBook Pro for our daughter since the newest laptops no longer have a built in drive and she still wants to be able to play CDs and DVDs. What Apple fails to make clear is that this drive is NOT compatible with the new MacBooks and no one selling them seems to be aware of this sad fact. We had to spend time with geek squad to troubleshoot. We returned it and bought an LG brand drive that worked perfectly at half the price. I gave this 2 stars even though for me personally, it gets only 1 because if there actually is an Apple product that it is compatible with this drive, it probably works great.

    Like almost all Apple products, quality is second to none. My only gripe being, the Mini should still have an option for a built in optical drive, and maybe Blu-Ray.
