I was disappointed in the MacBook Pro's lack of this device integrated within; but now, because I just would not have used that feature frequently anyway, find the Super Drive to be useful only when I need it. And the fact that I don't always lug it around means that my MacBook Pro is lighter.

I could have chosen a non apple drive but since i have a mac it just make sense for me to have an apple for an external superdrive. It just gives you a sense of peace knowing that you have compatible hardware and not worry that they wont work. If that makes sense.

easy to connect to your Mac AIr or Mac PRO

The Apple-SuperDrive 8x external USB drive fills the gap. It is plug an play, which means all you need to do is unpack, and connect. your mac system immediately recognizes it and will be able to read/write to your DVD/CD

Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.i like that you insert the discs rather than opening and closing a tray—sturdier feel. it’s quiet and sleek. i have not tried to burn anything yet but i think it will be easy to figure out. i tried to use one with a usb type a but i did not have enough usb slots on my mac mini so landed up paying the higher price

Fit my Need

I also decided to rip some cds, which worked fine. I did have to purchase an adapter to use it with my Apple laptop
