This product is useful for college age kids whp want to back up papers as well as heir music, videos & games.

For some reason Apple refuses to include a blu-ray drive in this all in one. Otherwise it's great.

Do NOT buy for new 2020 version MacBooks. It is somehow not compatible with the newest version of MacBooks. I expect more from Apple. I bought this to go with my new MacBook Air, along with a port converter since Apple made this a USB port and not a USB-C port considering the USB-C port is the only port they put on their MacBooks, anyway, when plugged in my computer would say your device needs power plug your Apple drive into a USB port on your MacBook. After speaking with 6 different agents with geek squad I was told I likely had a defective drive and to try a new one. So I did and the same result. Luckily there was another review on here from someone else who had the same issue and the resolution they found was that the only CD/DVD drive Apple has at Best Buy is not compatible with their newest computer but they purchased an LG model (that is much cheaper) and it worked well. So I’m off to return my drive and buy the much cheaper version.

After purchasing the drive for my Apple laptop and when I got the burner it had error messages about the lazer not being calibrated for the media. After reading several reports online I had to literally blow in the drive to get it to work.

Haven't had any problems with it, I would like a physical button on it, it would be a nice feature.

Since my mac didn't come with a side cd driver,I bought this external driver, what a great addition, buy it it's worth it, Picture quality is great.

It was not compatible with my macbook pro. This device has a cable that comes and can not be disconnect that ends as a USB and the newer macbooks has a C type. I tried to convert the connection but then then I get an alert thay says that I must connect the device to power. Definitely not what I expected from an apple product to apple product.

Only thing I don’t like is it can’t write blu rays. Other than that, dope product!

It works good, but it doesn't work on Blu-ray Disc.

I bought this because Apple doesn’t include this on its desktop computer.

like it so we can watch movies on the Mac. Wish it had an indicator that tells there is a disk inside.

My new Mac did not come with a CD drive so I purchased an external Apple drive. It broke the second time I used it. I contacted local Best Buy store and they said they couldn't help talk to Apple. After a phone call and a trip to the local Apple Store they replaced it with another drive.

The DVD drive is good with the exception of this drive not being able to play Blu Ray discs.

Good but noisy external CD ROM for my apple mini since they no longer come with an internal CD ROM.

I have plenty of audio cd's l needed to transfer to my mobile, l have a MacBook/no drive.

It did not work for BUT for others I suspect it will be 5 stars. It was not compatible with my sons older Mac. Not supported by Apple. We love Apple although not this one time. Try this product I strongly suggest because Best Buy and Apple have GREAT customer service.

Had to be able to read older CDs and this did the trick. whew!!!!

I would only wish it was a blu-ray player also. Such is life.

Good product for the money. we did have some issues installing it but I am not sure it was the products fault.
