i like that you insert the discs rather than opening and closing a tray—sturdier feel. it’s quiet and sleek. i have not tried to burn anything yet but i think it will be easy to figure out. i tried to use one with a usb type a but i did not have enough usb slots on my mac mini so landed up paying the higher price

I like the easy access of using theApple - SuperDrive 8x External USB Double-Layer DVD RW/CD-RW Drive. It's very convenient, portable, efficient, and affordable. I recommend this to anyone that is wanting to make cds and dvds for business or for personal use. I give this product a strong five stars on all levels.

Since computers aren't coming with drives anymore, unfortunately there are occasions you still need one. Hated to spend the money for something infrequently used but also hate the inconvenience of not having one available when needed. So I bit the bullet and purchased this great drive for my MacBook Pro and glad I did! Works like a charm.

I went back and forth in the store between buying the off brand (cheaper) and getting the SuperDrive to go with my brand new iMac. Ultimately i knew the floppy ness of the disc drive was going to bother me just like it bothered me on my internal disc drive on my PC. I also liked how smooth and functional it is getting it connected is as easy as just plugging it in. I am very happy with my purchase!!!

I bought this because with my new macbook air if i wanted to burn CD's or listen to one this is what i wanted to use and it works well.Apple person who helped me told me [as you would expect] that you can use any kind of drive but.. it will not be the same as my old macbook with built in drive i do miss that but the air macbook is so light in weight i can deal when using this.

Macs have the problem that they do not include a DVD/CD reader/writer. The Apple-SuperDrive 8x external USB drive fills the gap. It is plug an play, which means all you need to do is unpack, and connect. your mac system immediately recognizes it and will be able to read/write to your DVD/CD

Slim design and easy to use. USB cable does not detach from drive. Don't have to worry about losing it, but hope it doesn't prematurely become the weak point.

SuperDrive was easy to install and use. Reliable and fast. Well worth buying for Mac.

Great add on to an apple unit that does not have an internal CD or DVD drive. Ejecting was a little confusing at first but very easy when getting used to finding the procedure on the laptop screen. Worked well watching video or playing CD;s and putting them into iTunes from my own collection.
