I tried to add it on Mac desktop, couldn't get it to work. Same results with my Windows laptop. I had packed it up to return to store when I decided to check drive on youtube. I got full instructions on youtube

Would prefer it to be internal

Just a drag to have to use up a port to connect and have a separate component to deal with. This is not a fault of this product it is a fault of the MacBook pro.
