it serves it purpose, but its a pain to have to attach

My MacBook Air did not come with a CD/DVD drive. Only problem is I wish it came with a USB-C Connection, not USB-A.

This does not work with my Mac book pro. I have a Mac book pro and bought this thinking I could watch dvd, listen to cd Ext. Not compatible

After our second unit and reading of countless issues with this, discussions with Geek Squad, we ended up returning it to Best Buy. Our MacBook Pro is less than a year old and will not power this item. Apple apparently doesn’t make this to be able to be powered via the USB port in the laptops, it takes too much power and apparently only works with iMac. Disappointed, had to buy an LG product that was recommended by Geek Squad.

After having my Mac for a few years the drive was not working. Lucky i was able to buy this for good price.

I think Apple should of had this as an original part of the laptop but since it doesn't this is a must have

There is no USB port on mac book, only USB3. To install my printer I had to use an adapter that would let me attach my printer as well as the CD drive. This drive wouldn't work, I had to buy another CD drive that required less power.

Worked fine for the several times I needed to access something on disc. I just tried to use it today and it's dead. Since it is over 1 year I believe the warranty is expired. Normally I have zero problems with Apple products.

The Disk reader was a great addition for anyone still using CD/DVD. Only wish it had a burn option

This product doesn't work with newer MacBook Pros. I had to use multiple methods to finally get it to work, and ended up combining three or four different solutions to finally get my laptop to recognize it.

I tried some other ones but they had intermittent problems with my mac. This one works just fine.

This device has not been updated by apple ever. I would’ve expected them to update with new features over the year but not. Find another cd/dvd reader.

No instructions at all on how to set it up and connect it to my computer. GEEK Squad was not able to get it connected when I first called. Haven't had time to call again since it took a while for someone to answer.

Basically, I went to best buy because I needed an external cd burner for my Imac as the drive on my Imac stopped working. The best buy associate told me this would work fine on an Imac and when I got home and plugged it in nothing happened. I asked a mac specialist if it should work and he said that it would not work if the Imac had an optical drive built in.. Had to return it. Was a waste of time and gasoline. I wish the best buy salesman knew this before acting like he knew what he was talking about.... 1 star-

Why do I need to buy a separate device just to use a disc? It does what it is supposed to, but they could just include it on the computer.

Was sold a hyper drive which does not provide power to the superdrive. The superdrive was an open box and when I finally got the right connector it does not work. Will be returning it

I feel apple created a portable external cd drive just for extra money and you need to download a cd so of course you have to buy it.

The one I got didn't work out of the box. The drive wouldn't accept the disc. It didn't grab and just popped out every time I pushed it in. Had to return it. If you choose something other than Apple you might find a drive for much less $$.

Unfortunately, this product did not make it burning one DVD. The reviews I read also mentioned this being a possibility, but I guess I was hoping to get the one that would work. I took it back as soon as I could and bought the LG. The LG worked perfectly. Poor design by Apple. Not what I'm used to from their products.

it seems cheaply made, it scratches your disks and just seems like another proprietary product to waste money on. but hey, if you need it then you need it right???
