I got this for my macbook retina as i have so many softwares that requires cd drive. this is very thin too so you can bring it together with your mac. i just wish they are bd too. other than that, this is perfect for you air or retina.

Another great addition to my new apple computer! Small and compact and not in the way. Very simple to use.

It works perfectly with my desktop Mac. It's necessary for all of the current Mac OSs which apparently don't include drivers for the optical drives, even if the hardware has a slot. What's missing are proper operating instructions, particularly for recording functions.

I'm admittedly Apple's #1 Fan. I really appreciate the esthetic design of Apple products and the Apple - SuperDrive 8x External USB Double-Layer DVD RW/CD-RW Drive is no exception. I'm obsessed with clean lines and complimentary design. My desktop has a wireless Apple trackpad, a 13.3" Apple MacBook Air and the Apple - SuperDrive 8x External USB Double-Layer DVD RW/CD-RW Drive. Very sleek and slick in design and function.

I got this because the imac does not have a drive built in. I was shocked because I spent a lot of cash for the new computer and did not realize that there was no dvd drive or burner that comes with imac. So far it is working no problems.

If your a MacBook owner this is a must have item. Plug and play, quiet, fast and reliable!

I purchased the MacPro 13" with Retina Display knowing that it did not come equipped with a disc drive...however I wanted the availability to run DVD's or other CD's should that situation present itself...I used the external SuperDrive only twice, once to download a previous program and the other to watch a DVD...on both occasions the setup was easy and the performance was flawless...the only con is having to tote it around just in case you need to use it which has nothing to do with the performance of the product!

This drive is super fast, small, and compact. Glad I purchased it with my MacBook Pro.

Working fine as expected, My only wish for this is to have a more reasonable price. But, it is Apple, so what can I say? Functionally, it works good.

Easy to use and doesn't take up much room on the desktop. Fast burning time for discs.

The SuperDrive is the perfect complement for the current generation iMacs, which do not include a CD/DVD drive. It easily attaches to an open USB port and allows for importing CDs, watching videos, or burning DVD backups.

Easy to set up as all Apple products. At the high end of price but simply - it works. I rarely use it as most applications are downloadable through app store.

It does what it does well. I would not have bought it with my MacBook Air except that there are some software packages that I own that can ONLY be installed via CD or DVD, and although Apple makes a remote disk-drive sharing option available, it's not the same as installing from an attached drive. I also like to make digital copies of my videos and burn them to DVDs, and occasionally to "rip" music from CDs I have in my collection that are no longer available.

If there is one thing MacBook owners miss is having an internal CD drive. Of course, we also love our ultrathin/ultralight laptops and this external drive is the best complement to maintaining productivity when needing to access files on a CD-ROM. I highly recommend the Apple SuperDrive to anyone who wants to get the most out of their MacBook.

Nice compact size, easy to set up only problem is the cord is to short.

Sleek and quiet, a very good CD/DVD drive to use with my mac.

Does exactly what it says and it is very easy to use. Only issues are the fact you can not manually remove a dic from the unit itself, no button. Youll have to use the Mac to pop the disc out. Also, the usb cord is attached to the drive and it can not be removed. Not a great feature because it makes transporting a little bulkier and it is not necessary since most Apple users have no less than 4 usb cables on them at any time.
