Enter the SuperDrive! This thing is blazing fast for both read and writing. Not to mention that I can still maintain my full editing capabilities on FCPX! Don't skip this product if you want quality and reliability!

The sales person showed me the least expensive version of what I wanted until he (quickly) realized I wasn't necessarily looking at cost. When he realized what I wanted he was quick to find it and check me out. Good work Best Buy!

Good drive, but worth $80?
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.So I bought a late 2012 21.5 inch iMac (first generation of iMac with no built in disk drive) and decided I needed the superdrive. Did I really need it? I am not so sure now. Granted, it is a good thing to have just because somethings are still on dvds, but I have not used this nearly as much as I thought I would. I encourage you to really think about if this is worth the money for you. I think that except for actually watching dvd movies, an optical drive might not be necessary anymore. I will be using this drive to put my short films on dvd, but it isn't even that fast at writing discs. Perhaps wait until Mac supports blu-ray and then invest. (maybe they already do, and just don't have a product yet)
