This is EXACTLY what my new MacBook Air was missing! With a quick usb to usb-c adaptor, this SuperDrive added back all of the functionality of an onboard device but only when I need it. Even the finish is an exact match.

I use this drive for my MacBook Air, which doesn't have a CD drive. It's nice for watching my DVDs on my computer, but it is pretty expensive.

It is small and portable, lightweight, easy to storage. Glad I have it.

The new iMac comes with out a DVD which seems like major deficiency in today's world (perchance not in tomorrow's but we're not there yet, are we?) this drive solves the problem but now you have another wire and a larger footprint on your crowded workspace. That,however, is not the faulted the external drive. The drive is simple to install ( just plug it in) and it works flawlessly .

I bought a new MacBook Pro 13 M1 and needed an external DVD/CD drive. Since Apple devices tend to work together well I got their SuperDrive. I have a Caldigit TS3 dock and thought I could connect the SuperDrive to it via one of the the USB ports since the SuperDrive does not come with a USB-C connection. However, when I connected the SuperDrive to the dock I got a message saying the USB ACCESSORY NEEDS POWER, Connect "Apple USB ..." to a USB port on this Mac. I found out that I need a passive USB-C to USB adapter for the SuperDrive to work. Once I got a passive USB-C to USB adapter it works great. It would have been nice if the SuperDrive would have worked with the TS3 dock or came with a USB-C connector.

Bought the Apple SuperDrive for my new iMac. Wife wanted to install Turbo Tax and since the new iMac no longer has a DVD/CD drive, we needed the new SuperDrive and it works great. Need a small space on the desk but I put it on top of the iMac stand and it saves space. Read and installed the program very quickly, no problems. Worth the very inexpensive price.

I bought this since the Mac did not have a drive. I did not know that at the time of purchase. I assumed it did since is was sold a anti-virus disc at the point of sale. I did not know that it could be used with the code on the box. I called and spoke to a manager and he apologized, and told me he would sell a super drive at a discount. I took him up on his offer.
