This device hooks up to an Apple computer very easily. It does allow you to archive information to/from a CD and probably a DVD, which is why I bought it. The device played a DVD on my laptop and therefore would stream to my TV very well. It does not, however, play a Blu-Ray. This is a shame as functionality/sales would increase dramatically given that most new laptops don't have a CD/DVD/BD player installed.

Product works great, small and convenient. Easy to use as well.

Communicated extremely easily with my Mac Book Pro. Quick transfer of music CD's to my computer's music library. Haven't tried using it for watching DVDs or for data backup yet but would expect same ease of use. Would recommend this for anyone with a Mac Book.Reasonably priced and readily available in my local Best buy.

I bought this to go along with my Airbook because I often burn DVD's of videos for those friends/family members who cannot accept files. Also, although I use the cloud to back up my downloaded music I always feel more comfortable if I have another means of back up - just incase. This portable drive fits nicely in my computer case and is very quick.

Easy to connect even for a beginner and backs up flies quickly

Say plug and play and of course goes perfectly with my other apple components. Iv'e only used it ounces far to burn some photos to a DVD. It seems to have worked perfectly. So far so good.

This is simple, just plug in and watch your dvd, etc. The salesperson helped me choose this over a much cheapernon-brand because he said they keep up better with updates than non Apple vendors. Plus I am a Mac junkie, for 20+ years I have had no serious complaints that weren't due to my own errors and negligence in just a few instances.

I use this device quite heavily. I rely on it rather than any other device for movies and documentaries that I have on DVDs because I can take it from room to room and do not need to have a screen in the rooms in which I am working, as that would be very inconvenient (and costly).

Granddaughter has a MacBook Pro without a DVD in it. Tried to use a universal DVD plug in but couldn't get it to work properly. Got this for her for Christmas and she plugged it in and all was great! Product is really great but sometimes find it annoying that "Apple" only works with "Apple" but sometimes it's well worth the price!

Needed this for my MacBook Pro Retina to upload some music CDs. Works great. Cost is a little high.

I know others have complained about the price but I must say this product worked wonderfully with no set up or reading a confusing manual. Well worth it. I have a DVD player hooked up to my TV that I cannot figure out how to work and what a waste of money! You will not regret buying this product if you need a DVD drive for your Mac laptop.
